LT: Collins / Yeatman
LG: Pouncey (SUSP) / Steen
C: Dietrich-Smith / Garner
RG: Asamoah / Brenner
RT: Hurst / Clabo or Harris

Investment: 2nd and 4th rounders. $6m for Collins, $3m for Dietrich-Smith, $3.5m for Asamoah.
= $12.5m

I like it but problem is we will have to fight with other teams to sign all these OL. I don't think it is likely we get these three OL starters from free agency.

I agree. Comes from a very successful running enviroment with lots of overall experience. I'm sure he probably has a few "nugget" players out there that he is familiar with that will help the cause also....

I think the common misconception people have is that you can through anybody out on the OL, especially in a Zone Blocking Scheme, and have a productive OL. Yes and no. It's a tad easier to find guys because the blocking scheme we want to run is based more around the ability to move rather than just brute strength. The issue is they need to have the right skill set. Our guards could not move. While Garner/Brenner alternated between good and bad games (with Brenner it was more he just wasn't ready physically) our run game was a little better with them because they can move.

Martin's issues (besides mental) were that he A)Was insanely weak and B)played with poor leverage. In his 2 seasons with us, it's amazing how many times he ended up on his back. The strength thing can be hidden in the ZBS if you have great technique/leverage.

In short, the issues with the OL came down to poor fit, poor technique, and poor playcalling. I mean when you look out there and see some teams can plug anybody on the OL and not miss a beat, I don't think talent is the only issue

We have plenty of cap space, money talks. Collins would have to be priority A, but no reason we can't offer him more. Asamoah's my favorite guard, but there's Beadles/Saffold among others. Dietrich-Smith would come cheap and it's a relatively deep C market.

Silver loves this guy too (but I was the one that started hyping him to silver lol), the Bama game was actually really close for 3 quarters.

Richburg is the center and number 70, just watch how he moves and what he does. Whether it's at center or guard, that's the kind of movement you want from all 3 of your interior OL

I really hope it plays out somewhat like you have as we will not have to be totally handcuffed to O-Lineman in the draft.

Not everyone will be gone. Pounce might get suspended, but you don't trade low wage high productivity. You can build an adequate oline with a couple of additions. First, grab a good left tackle and build from there.

Collins and Winston in Free agency would give us cheaper production and two quality tackles. If you understand hickey's philosophy, you know he isn't a big advocate of ting olinemen. He only drafted one since 2009 and that happened in 2009. He was able to evaluate free agents and put together a damp good oline through free agency. Since he was in charge of player evaluations, his proficiency with free agents has to be noted. He was able to grab some of the better talents over the past few years. Revis and Vincent Jackson may have been the best acquisitions of all. Not to mention, acquiring Carl nicks and dashon goldsen. The guys resume for player evaluations is stellar, let's hope it continues.

well we don't know what he is an advocate of taking since he wasn't the actual gm so we shall see

Something is wrong when a guy shoves his thumb up another player's ass and just gets a small fine. Another guy swings his helmet at another players head and gets a mini-vacation out of it but getting "suspended" for 2 preseason games. But Pouncey is going to get a 4 game suspension for what exactly?
