The Dolphins may target a mobile quarterback in this spring's draft.
They are apparently keeping a close eye on Cam Newton, and were noted admirers of Colin Kaepernick at the Senior Bowl. They have the 15th selection in the draft, which could be about as far as Newton falls. In theory, they could target Jake Locker in the third or fourth round, but after swinging and missing on Pat White in the second round two years ago (one year after taking Chad Henne in the second round) they are much more likely to use their first-round choice on a signal-caller.

Hmm... They want an exciting offense. After seeing what Vick did for the Eagles, I'm all in favor of it. But who is the question. Hopefully it's not Young.

Don't forget what Rodgers did for the Packers and Big Ben is pretty mobile himself. When you can rush as a QB you buy yourself time to throw the ball & I agree the offense is much more exciting.

The Dolphins are going into the offseason looking for speed and players who can make big plays. Why not start with the quarterback? I know there are different views out there regarding Cam Newton and Jake Locker, but those guys can extend plays and make big things happen. That's exactly what Rodgers and Big Ben do for the Packers and Steelers. Those mobile qb's add a different dimension. I think Miami needs that to take this offense to the next level.

i say bring in all the mobile qb's you could find eventually one of will the right guy

I hate to mention cause some don't like the idea, but this makes VY a candidate.

Cam is not going to be a traditional drop back QB..., and I'm all in for a little improvisation

Defenses would practically always need a man spying Newton. Imagine him seeing a lane on a rollout and just hitting it

Finatic you shouldn't hate to mention it. Obviously you like him..who cares if people who don't, cry about it.

It's just that it makes the most logical sense, they are clearly looking for mobile QBs. Just listen to Sparano's PC how he praises QBs who can get out of the box and buy time to make that big play. Look at the two QBs in the Superbowl, look at what Vick did this year. For god sakes look who their QB was in Dallas a guy who is mobile and can make plays out of the box. They have a formula they are following, now a guy who fits the mold might be available practically for free, why do you not try to acquire him. Everyone knows the issues, but we are in desperation mold, all that must be thrown out the window. Small risk, very high reward.

On Newton: I really like Cam, but I would be extremely surprised if he gets passed teams like Buffalo, Tennesee, Minnesota & Arizona.

I am not a big VY fan as far as the leadership ect goes. But if he is cheap no reason not to take a chance. The guy has big upside if he can swallow the pill. I like Henne but VY brings a whole new dimension to the team. If it is cheap why not put the guy on the roster? He has won in college and the NFL. With this current QB situation it would be a mistake...

If he does get past these teams who REALLY NEED a QB... you have to wonder why... and than you have to wonder what they saw that our FO didn't......

I would like to have a mobile QB, but Young wouldn't be a good choice. If Newton falls to us in the draft we should take him.
