Dolphins' McKinney undergoes neck surgery

"Half the season"......

That's if he's lucky in my opinion. This kind of sucks because at the very least, I was expecting McKinney to keep our depth strong this year. I never thought I'd say this, but I hope he makes it back soon....

Depth players are as follows : OT D. McIntosh / OT J. Toledo / OT T. Pape / OT M. Pearson / OG J. Berger / C W. Smith / OT A. Alabi / OT O. Thompson / OG E. Akah ? / and OG CJ Brooks ? ......

I'm not sure how many of those guys are capable of taking over starting duties, but have faith in Houck. He should be able to find someone who will step up when need be. Let's just hope that we don't encounter anymore major injuries....

Well we have been hearing good things coming out of camp about Anderson and Toledo. I guess this Saturday we'll see what's what, give people an opportunity to step up.
 
The 2 Joe's have been getting time in at both C and G, but Smitty is the primary backup C. I think he's been spending all of his time there with the 2nd team.

With Seth out for a while and Anderson now working with the 1st team at RG, I expect Houck to turn either Toledo or Smitty into a legit back C, hopefully both.

Did anyone NOT think Bennie Anderson was not going to beat him out anyway? I wish Seth all the best and a quick recovery...football gets put in perspective anytime a neck injury occurs. good luck Seth, and we'll see you in med-season.
 
Smith has been working at center, pretty much as long as Saban and Houck have been here. That should not be a problem. A guy we have not heard much about is Mike Pearson. If he can make the team as a tackle, is it possible that we move Vernon inside and play D-Mac at RT, and keep Pearson as our swing tackle? If not, I am pretty confident in having Anderson start at RG and having Wade and Joe as insurance inside.
 
Looks like Bennie Anderson vs. Joe Toledo for RG duties. Wade Smith suddenly got happy. He was in this position last year, looking like he was gonna make the team and then wham, broke his arm goes on IR for the year. I think we're going to have to cut Seth, re-sign him when he's healthy. There's no way we can afford to keep a 53 man roster spot for him until he comes back, and you can't place a player on the PUP list that started training camp healthy.

We have to work out an injury settlement with him I think...and then we can sign him back later. Either that or put him on IR, but there's not much point in that since he's only on a one year contract.
 
I hope his surgery goes well but I have never been a big sweaty hands Seth fan.

CK, what do you think about Carey sliding inside? We have Pearson and Mcintosh who can contribute at RT(although I don't know how they have been performing so far). Either way, I believe we can get the job done w/ Bennie and Joe. I really didn't feel that the coaching staff wanted Seth to win that job.
 
i find it hard to believe mckinney won't be put on IR. saban likes to do that. i think they'll wait and see what a few guys like toledo and anderson look like before they decide, but i'd imagine mckinney goes on IR.
