Which is why he's falling to the 4th round or later and being touted as a gimmick player, right? Both stats from one game are career highs, by the way, not an average game. The guy has limited arm strength, poor accuracy, and serious fumblitis (which makes the "replace Beck with White" statements funny). Could be a decent WR prospect, but will need a lot of work and won't make an immediate impact until he develops into one, even in gimmick plays, which would only be dangerous if he can sell himself as a dangerous receiving threat.
As soon as you said he has limited arm strength, I realized you are completely lost on this topic. Well actually I realized it in your earlier post.
I could go into great detail about all of this but let me just point out that Pat White has one of the strongest arms out there. I dont think he has the type of accuracy needed to play QB in the NFL on an every down basis(nor the size and pocket presence but, thats a whole other deal I dont feel like getting into) but youre clueless(no offense) to say he has no arm strength. Im sorry bro, but youre way off here.
Let me just inform you that Pat White has a BIG TIME arm as far as the ability to put some mustard on his throws. You must not be aware of the fact that he has been a big time baseball prospect as a centerfielder. The kid has a ****ing hose. He could play pro baseball as a centerfielder mainly for his defensive abilities to run down balls in the outfield and can fire the ball with the best of them. You obviously have never seen him play football.
And youre wildcat statements in the earlier post are off as well. If you think teams would just stack the line if White were taking the direct snap out of the wildcat then I dont know what to tell you. Just go ask any of the teams White played in college how things worked out when they stacked the line and he made it past the first level. Get real.
And that spread he ran at WVU was similar in several ways to our wildcat, especially out of the shotgun. Alot of WVU's plays were out of shotgun and White would be held responsible for reading the coverage and deciding whether to give the ball to the tailback, take it himself, or throwing it.
He has a good enough arm that teams would respect the fact that if they stacked the line that he could beat them with a quick pass that one of our playmakers could score with against a single defender.
Again, he isnt the most accurate, but he has decent accuracy on some of the longer throws that dont need to have alot of air under them between the hashes. He also has serious arm strength.
No way teams would stack the line on us with him taking the direct snap. And again, if we block it right and he gets past the first line of defense, forget about it....even in the league. He is just too fast in pads.
Having him on the field in that formation would just give us way too many playmakers on the field at once and would be a nightmare for defenses. You could mix and match him, Brown, Ricky, Cobbs, Ginn, and Pennington out there. You could put him and Pennington on the field at the same time in that formation and have 2 or 3 different guys who are a threat to throw it. The secondary would have to respect that.
You could also give White a handoff/keep option when Ricky or Ronnie sweeps around like Ricky always did last year. Its just too many guys on the field who can beat the defense for 6 if they dont account for them in that formation. A true nightmare.
White would be a great selection for us in round 3 and probably even round 2.
For those who think it would be a waste to take a guy who may only see 6 or 7 plays a game.....get real. Those 6 or 7 plays a game could result in 2 or 3 huge plays. If we get 2 big plays a game out of White....hell even 1, he is worth every bit of a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Thats a difference maker.
He could be a step up from what Kordell Stewart did when his play helped the Steelers to the Super Bowl his rookie year as Slash.
Sign Coles and Brown and White may be the only pick we need to spend on offense the whole draft.
Not to mention the fact he could basically fill 2 roster spots with one body. We could count him as a WR and also the emergency QB, leaving no need for a 3rd stringer. Which of course means we can finally dump Beck. Thats good enough reason to draft White in itself. Also, it wouldnt mean we would have to dump London. Why couldnt we keep 6 WRs? Hell we wouldnt really have to count White as a WR. Does it really matter anyway? Whats so special about London? If he dosent continue to play well on special teams, do we really need him?
Draft Pat White!!!!:hi5:
Edit : How could I forget to mention, Pat White also has excellent character. He is a leader and a gritty warrior. He speaks well and is a stand up guy. He isnt a dumb thug and will go 100% all the time on the field. He would fit in nicely with this team.
