Dolphins meet with TE Mason Taylor

A good blocking TE helps the offensive line too.
Yes I understand. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying we don't need a TE. I just think with as much help as we need on the o and d line we should go there first. A FA TE would be a stop gap until next year. But yes, like the other dude mentioned, TE has been needed for a long ass time.

I don’t want them to wait until next season to draft a TE. They need to take advantage of a strong TE draft class this season. They’ve missed out on too many other strong TE draft classes in the recent past.

Yes, its pretty high on the list. Jonnu Smith is under contract for one more year and he's almost 30. Mason is much more of a traditional TE and he has something we lack, size.

Tyler Warren will absolutely be looked at in round 1. Don't assume that because we have Jonnu, TE is off our radar. And thats coming from someone who wanted to sign Jonnu Smith MORE THAN ANYBODY a year ago.

Its hard to imagine a better first round fit, offensively, than Tyler Warren.
I wasn't here this time last year but I promise I matched that energy about Jonnu. Was begging for a TE have the tweets to prove it lol. Glad he proved us right

TE is not high on the list. It is not an immediate need. It is a position we will have to address down the road. The roster has massive holes with no starting options that need to be addressed in FA or the draft.

The only reason you draft Warren is if you believe he is going to be an All-Pro TE. That despite the clear needs on the OL and all over the defense, this kid is too good to pass on.

I’m not saying Warren isn’t on our radar. But there are going to be 4-5 exceptionally talented guys at 13 we are going to have to choose from. All of which would help the team win in 2025.
Inline TE is most definitely a need. The TEs blocking issues were as much to blame as guard play in the run game. Doesn't have to be a top 4 guy, but it needs to be upgraded. Jackson Hawes at minimum

He can't be a good blocker at 6'5 and 250?
Never said he can't be. Only that he isn't a great as a TE at the moment.

Read some scouting and draft reports. Just picked one at random, but most say pretty much the same thing

Scouting Report: Weaknesses

  • Struggles to anchor against power rushers - gets walked back into the pocket when trying to pass protect
  • Needs significant technical refinement as a run blocker - plays too high and gets overwhelmed at point of attack
  • Limited experience as an in-line tight end - primarily operated from slot or wing alignments
  • Must develop more sophisticated route-running tempo to avoid telegraphing breaks against NFL defensive backs
  • Doesn't show the explosive burst needed to consistently separate from athletic NFL safeties in man coverage

We need to see what FA moves are made but at the moment the team doesn’t even have enough starters along the LOS both sides never mind depth.

TE CB Safety sure they are all needs, we have lots of needs with only so many resources.

The odds that we’re going to be happy with the finished roster on both sides of the ball are small in my opinion.

Has Mason Taylor had any torn ligaments or fractured vertebrae? Trying to gauge Grier's interest.
