Dolphins might cut Philip Wheeler

Lol if he has interest from other teams, why not trade the dude and actually get something in return from a terrible investment? I don't know of many teams who would put up with his current contract though, very inflated.

please get rid of this guy....i still cringe at the thought of that unnecessary roughness penalty he got late in the tb game.

Cause no one will trade for him with that contract. He's way overpaid.

The sooner the better so we can go get a OLB in the draft or free agency.

Or the illegal hands to the face penalty that kept a drive going late in the second Buffalo game.

Brutal play by an equally brutal player.

Do not cut him. It would mean a big time dead money cap hit. Let him compete. He either improves or provides depth. I know a prominent coach with the Oakland Raiders. He was surprise he struggled and felt he has talent but has a very particular learning style (An intuitive style) that needs to be properly coached.

Post June 1 designation would be my plan.

I can't remember the numbers but Wheeler played for smaller $ last season but has big $ guaranteed this year. The question is whether Wheeler has the ability to improve significantly on what we saw or not. If we have big $ guaranteed, then why cut him? He serves as a minimum expensive backup. I seem to recall that Ckparrothead called it correctly when he was recruited, inferior coverage and tackling skills. Poor evaluation by Ireland and his administration. Oakland may like him but unlikely they pay the big $ that we have guaranteed.
A few weeks ago a finheaven member stated his confidence that Wheeler will be significant improver with his second season in our system. I have seen nothing to date to warrant that confidence.
