the dolphins must make the QB position our biggest strength......memo to coach cameron and gm mueller you must trade for trent green to battle culpepper in training camp for the number 1 job....but dont give up more then a 7th round pick to get him .....hold out and wait for his release......prediction green will force his way to miami like harrington did last year in the end for a low round pick.you guys talk about winning cam/randy well you better draft brady quinn and move up to do so otherwise its all hot air and nicktator lies....this team has not drafted a franchise qb since dan marino its long overdue to do so so have the balls make the deal happen with the lions even if it means our number 1 pick in 2008! culpepper green and quinn should be our 3 qb's in 2007.......

Bryan, you probably ought to have just stopped with the first sentence. I do agree with it. Just my own opinion, but it's doubtful that Quinn will be a Dolphin. The asking price to move up that far is just too much. QB is not the only big need we have right now, y'know.

I have to agree. We need to DRAFT the face of this franchise, not cut and paste one from another team. I love Cpep, and hope he lights it up this year, but even if he is completely healthy the man is almost 31 years old. He is an "athletic" type QB, and age or injury tend to have strong effects on that type, and he has both. We need a guy that we can watch with confidence. The guy that when we get the ball back down by 4 with 2:00 min remaining, we can sit back in our chair, turn to our friends, and say watch this. He is about to ruin your day." A guy who we can get behind, a guy whos jersey you can buy at full price and not fell ripped off 4 months later, a guy that when Pats fans say "we have Brady" and Colts fans say "we have Payton" and Bills fans say "I might commit suicide" we can counter with "well, we have (insert franchise QB here)". Is Quinn that guy? I dont know, but dammit Im ready for someone to be, and he is as good an oppertunity as we are going to get.

Sometimes tough decisions must be made. Maybe they think the price is too high or just maybe they think someone like Quinn is the one need that will help the Dolphins get back to respectability and make us a playoff team. They might think that a Quinn could be the face of the franchise for the next 10 or more years. The Dolphins have been accepting cheap fixes for quite a while and with not much luck, so maybe its time to make an investment. Of course I could be wrong and they may decide to take lower round quarterbacks year to year until we hit on something that works. One thing is for sure and that is that QB is one of the most important if not the most important need right now for the Miami Dolphins and that is JMO.

I hear ya. But, as others have posted it is going to be awfully expensive to get Quinn. The other option is roll the dice on say a Staton. But, of course the challenge is not to reach for a player based out of pure need. Its not a problem to draft on need but with value in mind. Not go for a player in a higher round than when they should be selected.

That is yours truly's biggest concern; that we have so many holes on offense that we may make judgement errors by reaching out of necessity and sacrificing value nstead of going BPA when the opportunity presents itself. I value Mule's decision making and I am enthused with Cam's comments and moves so far. But, they are human and when an organization is faced with key holes at OL and QB rash judgements can be made that may be justified at the time of the draft but come back to haunt us.

Remember we had a history of one time going after rbs out of necessity via trade or draft. We had to deal with Bobby Humphrey, Mark Higgs, and Sammy Smith in the past; acquiring them out of desperation for a premiere back and reaching when there could have better options had the FO waited later in the draft to find hidden gems. Then of course at qb it was thought that Feeley may have been the answer and Fiedler was good enough to not lose the playoff games. Did not pan now did it. Let history not repeat itself.

Very nice post and I would like a franchise QB also for the Dolphins.:ninja:

I am not so sure that Quinn is a must have prospect. I would like to have him at 9 or at any other spot in the draft but he is not a prospect that we should acquire at the expense of multiple day 1 picks. We need as many draft picks as possible and while I do think CJ is a prospect worth sacrificing picks for, I am not sure we would move up and get him. We need picks and a number of impact players on offense. Quinn would have to be great for us to sacrifice what could possibly be our two 2nd rd picks.

so this past year, the Colts won due to Peyton Manning. They won on the shoulders of their qb. That's one way to do it. The year before, Pittsburgh won on the shoulders of their defense. Big Ben didn't do anything. His numbers in that game show the truth. in 2000, the ravens won by their defense, with trent dilfer under center.

It would be great to get another Dan Marino, but that player is not in the draft or free agency this year. Quinn is overrated, and has his heart set on hometown Cleveland. His agent will be working hard to get him there.

All the announcers say that the Dolphins QB for 07 isnt on the roster right now. and yes, miami will get a qb in the draft for sure. but the rookie will not and should not start this year. Daunte will be the quarterback. for this year, it is best that Cam establishes a good, young offensive line. If Daunte is protected, and Cam can teach him to make his reads quicker, then maybe the dolphins will have a 06 pitt/ 00 baltimore type season on the shoulders of the defense. but qb is still at least a year away.

When was the last time your OB'ing was strong?

Rut row.....:foundout:

Well, we all know when that was, part of me says throw caution to the wind and do whatever it takes to move up to get Quinn, as long as we have enough picks left to get 2 quality offensive linemen as I don't think we're hurting too bad in other areas and wait till next year's draft to improve other positions in need. We're probably a couple of years away from having a championship caliber team. If we could just take care of the quarterback and offensive line this year, at least we would have a good foundation to build on.
