It looks like we are going to lose Carroll and 50-50 on Patterson. We have Taylor, who I like to start, and Davis, who I don't know enough about but, have not seen anything on what the team thinks of either.

There are many good- VG CB's in FA (see above link) but, with so many other needs, not sure how much we want to pay for one. I'm thinking we would go for a cheaper vet for a year or 2 to give Taylor his chance and have insurance.

One of MANY TUFF choices coming for Hickey. Does he spend here in place of S, DT, or OG?

If philpin wasnt part of trading vontae Davis I would love to bring him back I was not happy when he was traded and would look good across from Brent grimes

Our Rookies from last year are still unproven. Our coaching staff was able to bring them along slowly as we had solid Vets in place. I think they see the field more this year, we'll see..

I could see us bringing in another Vet option but not as anything more than competition for our Rookies, I just don't see any big money going into that position. We haven't seen Davis or Taylor enough to move on from them and they will be given the opportunity to take the #2 corner position in camp. I think Taylor comes out on top and becomes our starter. Hope so atleast... He was a 1st round talent last year that slipped to us due to an injury. Lets hope he can get healthy and solidify our Corner position.

I would like to see shields brought on even if Patterson is kept.

Agreed, as long as Coyle and Hickey are thinking the same on Taylor. If not, I can see spending more on a legit younger starter.

Patterson will restructure. he has no reason to believe he'll go somewhere else and be more effective or make more money. Carrol... meh. and we got two second year players who need to step it up.

I'm thinking that with the depth at FA CB, that someone is gonna fall through the cracks and be cheaper than what they would be in a normal market. That's the one I want.

We will see but, even if Patterson stays, he can hardly be counted on to stay healthy, and we still need another.

Sign Byrd in FA and move Wilson back to corner, which is where he's supposed to be anyway. Defensive backfield would be:

Grimes, Taylor, Wilson, Davis
Jones, Byrd, draft a guy like Bucchanon or Bailey, Thomas

Not too shabby.

Jamar Taylor hasnt proven anything. I think it would be very risky to hand him the starting CB spot. I could see him on the field during 3rd or passing downs, but that's about all I'd trust him with at this point.

I doubt Patterson takes a voluntary pay cut. When was the last time you saw a player taking a voluntary pay cut? He knows he could be released and get a 2 or 3 year contract somewhere else. He holds all the cards, not us.

I think its a possibility that Carroll returns after being made an offer. Miami might be letting him test the market just to see what his market value is.

IMO, Wilson is much more a S than a CB.

How do you figure Patterson holds ALL the cards? The Dolphins can keep him at his present salary or cut him. The only card Patterson holds would be to accept a contract extension if it was offered.

wil davis was rockin it in training camp. If healthy, I see him making an impact!
