If a team lacks game-breakers, it is difficult to prevail once a game breaks down. That lesson of the playoff loss to Baltimore was reinforced by Sunday's 19-7 loss to the Falcons, and it is a serious concern as the 2009 season continues.
The Dolphins didn't protect the football or the quarterback against Atlanta. For most teams, that combination would likely mean a loss against a quality opponent. For the Dolphins, it always will, because they lack the personnel to make explosive plays out of conventional sets. That renders their margin for error microscopic, forces them to resort to gimmickry and limits their ability to mount serious comebacks.
