Dolphins' new O-line coach has bond with Sparano

I still wish Sparano couldve talked to H Houck 2 great minds might have been a great benefit.

I don't think Maser is that big a step down from HH, if he is a step down at all. Look at those stats he has put together for Jax and Car as the OL coach! I don't see a drop down from HH at all, myself!

Totally agree. Maser's line have been some of the best for several years. I loved HH but he was likely retiring after this year. Maybe Maser will stay a few years while developing a young solid line for the long term.

Could have, but nothing to lose sleep over. San Diego didn't miss one beat when HH left for Miami.

Houck is getting long in the tooth so he is not going to be coaching for very many more years. Maser has a different approach with the players. He's an intense "get on your rearend and keep on you" type of guy. He also teaches while being very vocal and involved. Houck was more of a quiet teacher. Two different types of coaches but both have had success. Right now I think Maser is the type of coach we need. We need a guy to light a fire under the rearends of our o-linemen.

yall don't forget that our new head coach is a great offensive line coach himself, the two together could be quite formidable

This should be a great unit next year. Sparano is going to make our line awsome and I cannot wait to see. We need a beast line for Beck and Brown for good success.

Dont mean to be Debbie Downer, but we said these things when Houck arrived. Again, and in what is becoming a theme this offseason, I will withhold judgment until I see results.

It's good we have a new o-line coach...and every other coach. Sometimes you just need a change. As for Houck and Parcells working together, it's not going to happen. Parcells didn't work with him before and as you can see, he's only taking his proteges.

...and it's not like our line was so great when he was here. i know he didn't have a lot to work with but i read he could turn chicken poop into chicken salad. it was just slightly better tasting chicken poop.

I wonder if this hire will also lead to Travelle Wharton coming to town......

Or Jordan Gross.

Whats the deal with Wharton? Is he a sure-fire LT, or another McIntosh/Shelton "project". I dont watch Carolina much. How much experience does he have?

No, he's sure fire.. He's not flashy and isn't on the same level of the Paces or Walter Joneses of the world, but he's a guy who has had a pretty big impact on the Panther O-line. The Panthers looked substantially different (and not in a good way) when he was out in 2006.

He's definitely not on the same wavelength as Shelton or McIntosh.

I wouldn't mind Gross either, but his asking price is a bit higher.

Good post, my thoughts exactly.
