Dolphins News!!!!

Well I hope that we keep DC at least through training camp. I'd be really disappointed if we gave up 2 -2rd picks for two flub Qb's.

Goodbye, Kevin Carter!

Time to see what Matt Roth is really made of.......

one thing I think got left out was the headline "YOUTH MOVEMENT"... I know the author hit on 'scrutinizing the older/expensive players', but more importantly, we should focus more on getting younger on both sides of the ball, defense especially.... now, Cams got three first day picks in the draft, something we havent had it feels like in forever...well, if you don't count the second rounder we got in return from the Chiefs for Surtain in Saban's first year...but anyway, Cam will have a good opportunity to select at the very least six young prospects in the image of his and Mueller's preference... otherwise, very solid article...

Settle QB Position

What I would do: Keep Daunte, bump Cleo up to #2, draft a QB in the 2nd day, and have an open battle in training camp. Cut/trade Harrington.

Resolve Ricky Dillema

What I would do: See what other teams are willing to offer for him. If we can get a future 3rd rounder or a package of picks, pull the trigger. If not, keep him here, but make Brown the featured back.

Evaluate Coaching Staff

What I would do: Fire Mularkey, promote Garrett to OC and make Shula Assistant HC/QB coach. Keep Defensive staff intact, have Cam bring in his own WR, TE and perhaps ST coaches.

Scrutinize Older, Expensive Players

What I would do: Keep Carter, Cut/force pay cut on Wilkinson, Cut Anderson, cut/force pay cut on Olindo.

Resign Key Free Agents

Must re-sign McIntosh and Welker, extend fair deals to Holliday, Bowens and Spragan but don't overpay under any circumstances. Let the market set the price for all others who won't sign for the minimum.

Screw that, CUT Mare....he's only getting WORSE as he gets older...and he's missing key plays. I agree with resigning with some of our key free agents...it would be a shame to see some of them leave us.

p.s. I have a problem with them saying Harrington was benched because we liked Lemon more or that he was "too-talented"....don't get me wrong...it's WONDERFUL to see him doing so well and knowing we can rely on him....but wasn't Harrington benched because Saban is a tight-*** and didn't want to pay him the bonus? Had he played we would've had to pay him so he was benched to save money.

If Cam decides DC isn't worth keeping then it's fine by me, I'd rather move on as they keep looking for the right QB and not try and stick with a mediocre one.

yes, it would be disappointing. but how long do you hang onto a bad situation (if that's what they decide it is) just because you paid a lot to get into it. if he's not the guy, better to decide it now and move on as soon as you can. that assumes that you have another plan - there's no FA qb's worth the quick fix. so, does it all depend upon who you can draft? i think so. which, imo, means you certainly won't see brady quinn pull an 'aaron rogers' and slide into the second half of the first round. imo, if quinn or russell is there at # 9, they pull the trigger.

no, harrington just sucked bad....and lemon gave us a better chance to win

No. He was benched because he was too inconsistent and they wanted to see how Lemon reacted to starting a reg season game... which was not too shabby in my opinion

Gotcha, I'm just saying i'd be a shame not to give this guy a chance in training camp. Randy Mueller is a QB guy and has stated he always likes to draft one every year b/c even if you don't keep the guy they are a trade commodity later on. If DC is still gimping through training camp I think you have to cut your losses then.

I thought that was Gus Frerotte's excuse as to why Saban was gonna bench him before Linehan talked him out of it.
