Dolphins now focused on TE Cameron and CB McCain

Cameron did have a shoulder injury last year that has to check out as well, but to me the fact that he was healthy and playing well (his numbers suffered due to awful QB play) in the final few games of the season is important. Like I said, if the money is right, I love it. Immense talent.
 
IF not for the injury (which is a big deal) he would have been one of the top FA available....

It's definitely a risk / reward type of situation.

The amount of money a team gives him will determine the "risk" and what he is able to provide you with going forward will ultimately determine the "reward".

I don't mind rolling the dice on these type of players, but he needs to be on a "prove it" deal. 1 year, $4.5 million and show the league you are healthy and are able to get through a season. He's young enough to do this and still get paid in 2016.

Yes...I also feel the DOlphins have enough in place with Sims that if he does go down, they won't be completely screwed (as they were when B. Albert got hurt)

These numbers don't make any sense.

Jordan Cameron: 47 games played, 130 rec., 217 targets, 1600 receiving yards, 12.3 ypc, 10 TDs.

Charles Clay: 58 games played, 161 rec., 245 targets, 1809 receiving yards, 11.2 ypc, 14 TDs.

Consider Cameron hasn't had a decent QB throwing him the ball and last year in the WCO run by Kyle Shanahan he had 24 receptions before getting hurt and averaged 17.7 ypc and that's with no other receiving threat on the team because Josh Gordon was suspended for the first 10 games.

If not for Cameron's concussion issues he most likely would have been franchised...but the concussion issues are a big deterrent. Charles Clay has only played 16 games once in his 4 years but that's 1 more time than Cameron has. Clay will play through injuries as well, however, you can't play through a concussion.
 
This reminds me of Dustin Keller signing a few years ago. I think Cameron is one more concussion away from retiring. I hope I'm wrong though

Given the fact that Jamar Taylor may yet be the answer on the outside a signing like this makes a lot of sense. Essentially Mccain would be replacing Jimmie Wilson.
 
McCain is at the facility according to Beasley.
 
I'd be more concerned about Cameron's concussion issues if we didn't have Dion Sims developing pretty nicely as well. It is weird that everybody is focusing on that though, considering the fact that Clay hasn't exactly been the model of health.
 
So does everyone agree McCain over Robinson? They both seem like great athletes
 
Injuries as ALWAYS have to check out...and if they do this guy is an upgrade over what we have. I love Clay but this would be an upgrade.

This is the reason that Cameron is appealing. If he comes at a reasonable price tag it's because of his concussion issues. It's a gamble. But Sims is a solid FB player, and if we think Lynch can play at all, it might well be a gamble worth taking. We can't sign $10 million free agents to fill all our holes. When you are paying less for a FA it either because he is truly a lesser player or there is risk involved. If you have some depth at a position you can take the risk and hope you hit a homerun.
