Tyson Clabo disagrees with you and I will take his bias opinion over your bias opinion. :chuckle:
Incognito was named a Pro Bowl replacement after the 2012 season and would have made the game again this season, Clabo said.

“Richie was going to make the Pro Bowl,” Clabo said. “He was playing at a really high level. He made it the year before and he definitely wasn’t playing any worse.”

What exactly was Hickey supposed to do? Overpay for everyone YOU wanted on the first two days of free agency?

I'm not impressed with you lack of patience.
 
I think we've done well. Yes, we have holes, and yes the offense looks like a work in progress because it IS a work in progress, and will be all year.

I looked at the FA tracker for tackles, and everybody got someone decent. It's not like we were shut out.

So we did pretty well according to that list. I didn't include names of people who resigned with their own teams because you just can't compete with that or judge just how sincere a player was in leaving their home town.

These are some people who are still available:

Travelle Wharton/OG/Panthers (6’4, 315lbs)
(Finsiders)-The most senior player on this list, the 32 year-old Wharton started 12 games for the Panthers last season at left guard, and featured in all 16 games for Carolina. A crafty veteran guard who’s been pretty consistent his entire career, Wharton has started 111 games in his career and played in 115, all with the Panthers. He’ll most likely end up with a team on a short contract due to his age (he turns 33 in May).

Davin Joseph/OG/Buccaneers (6’3, 313lbs)
(Finsiders)- Cut by the Buccaneers just last week, the former first round pick by Tampa Bay in 2006 and two-time Pro Bowler has had a bit of bad luck since 2012. Joseph lost all of his 2012 season to an injury, and struggled mightily in 2013. The 30-year-old did start in all 16 games last season for Tampa Bay, and has played in 100 games in his career, starting all but one.

Michael Oher/OT/Ravens (6’4, 315lbs)
(Finsiders)- While the movie about him suggests that Oher protects quarterbacks blind sides, he actually has played right tackle for the Ravens since 2011. He has been productive and healthy enough to all 80 games of his professional career, which began in the 2009 season.

RT Zach Strief
(Rotoworld)The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have expressed interest in setting up a visit with free agent RT Zach Strief. Strief has been unavailable this week due to a commitment at a function in Cincinnati. The 30-year-old reportedly would be interested in talking with Miami but prefers to re-sign with New Orleans. The Saints may not be able to squeeze Strief under the cap. He's a finesse blocker who excels in pass protection. Mar 13 - 1:56 PM

After we pick up one or two more bodies, then there's the draft. We'll likely get an O lineman in the first round.

What has been taken off the board that has made us whiff so badly? There were 3 guards with few holes in their games on the market, there wasn't much talent in the first place. Beadles got grossly overpaid, Asamoah was slightly overpaid and took the first contract he was offered. There's 31 other teams. Chad Rinehart re-signed with the Chargers quickly for cheap, he obviously wanted to stay there. It's better than overpaying the likes of Lavauo and Chris Williams...there's better options out there than those 2 and they got 4m+ contracts. We got our LT, tho not my first choice but he's a solid football player. The top 3 guards simply got overpaid or were comfortable with their current teams, we hardly even got a crack at them. Can't pine about the team for not paying Beadles $6m and investing $15m in the leftside of the line, can't carp about Asamoah who only took one visit from another guard needy team. There's still Shelley Smith who I'm high on, we're being linked to Strief, Evan Dietrich-Smith and stop gaps like Wade Smith, Daryn Colledge and Davin Joseph. Fact of the matter the market wasn't a good one outside of LT, so the expectations are unfair when every other team is seeking out these guys. If we can bring in one of Shelley/Evan Dietrich-Smith and Strief and then maybe one of the stop gaps we've fixed a fair amount of the OL. 2 guard slots to fill, LT and RT. Right now we missed on the top 3 guards who never really gave us a fighting chance at them. None of the top centers are gone, mid-tier guards are still available, we got our LT and all the RT's are still available except Austin Howard who got grossly overpaid. So basically you're getting pissy over not getting 4 guys who would've been immediate starters....

Listen I'm not an apologist for this team, they **** up plenty but the expectations are unfair when there's 4 holes to fill in a weak FA class...it's been 3 days and there wasn't a bunch to work with initially.

Edit: So Rinehart actually signed on Monday....so everyone's complaining about how we didn't get 1 of 2 guards...give me a break.

I was digging Brenner until he fell apart after a few starts. I think he has promise. I'm done w Jerry - he's not mentally tough - all those false starts to start drives and the weight issues. I believe we will sign someone decent before FA is all over.
 
I don't love the idea of spending all our money on the lines, and you can't build an entire o-line in one draft. Ideally we get another solid starter via FA, make a successful pick early in the draft, and get lucky with a castoff or someone on the roster for the final spot.

In reality, the Dolphins will very likely start at least one subpar offensive lineman, but that's better than three or four of them.

I completely understand what you're saying but, don't agree with you on this one. We have a huge need at OG and, as you say, our options for a fit were very limited. I would have overpaid for one OG, and been happy in waiting for a second as well as a RT. I do not want to be putting 1 year band aids at 3 positions on the OL, and going through this again next year.

IF we sign a Deitrich-Smith and/or Shelly, I will change my opinion, same as I did at DT when we signed Starks. In the meantime, I am disappointed in where we are right now. There is not room for patience at G.
