and we all know walsh ran the WCO that he basically invented the wco SYSTEM through paul browns philosophies on offense. the media dubbed it the "west coast offense" system.
and as you saw in walsh's statement, he called it a "system".
AND I FEEL IT IS MOST IMPORTANT for the team to continue with someone from the WCO as that is what philbin excells in and believes in and sherman came up in. and tannyhill already knows the terminology and core plays. the TWO biggest, most productive offensive sytsems in the nfl have been the WCO and the AIR CORYELL system run by guys like norv turner and tom moore [indy's long time o/c and peyton mannings mentor].
so, if we are going to change, NORV would be my pic. like him or not as a head coach, one thing can NOT be denied, he is one hell of an o/c and his offenses have ALWAYS been potent utilizing every player in the offense. when bill billichek was asked a few years back what offense [if any] gave him the most trouble, without hesitantcy he replied, "norv turners! you never know what he is going to pull on game day and his plays are designed very well".
from the list given, in order i like someone from the WCO first and most. HUE JACKSON. GARY KUBIAK. and the one NON wco choice for me would be NORV TURNER. however, as a note on the air coryell system, it is based on solid run game sucking the defense in and then HITTING THAT DEEP BALL for the big play.
NOT tannys strong suit.
i hope the finz brass is focusing on an o/c that can run and design plays for the CURRENT state of the nfl, which is the deep passing game and not on just another buddy of philbins, whch by all accounts right now is whats going on with mcadoo. hope its all just "talk" and "rumour".
