When reviewing the 2006 season it is obvious the area that needed the most improvement was the offense as a whole. The defense ranked in the top 5 in nearly every defensive category and yet the team still finished 6-10.

Having said that, despite the Dolphins signing free agents and spending their first four draft picks on the offensive side of the ball, there are really only two new (possibly three) offensive starters fro this upcoming season. Damion McIntosh and Jeno James will be replaced by Chris Liwienski and Samson Satele. Some would question if that is an upgrade. Ted Ginn will replace the Dolphins best WR in '06, Wes Welker, but will probably not be a starter. Some will question if that is an improvement for this season. Trent Green could replace Culpepper/Harrington.

Is the change in Coach/OC the only true expected improvement on offense for this year?

we were so one demonsional last year.. we always where trying to pass to set up the run.. didnt really work out so well.. lol... we are more explosive with lorenzo booker and teddy ginn... we have improved drastically.. thats 3-4 wins right there we didnt get last year.. cam knows how to coach.. its gonna be like 2005 all over again. but with a better defense.. watch out nfl

I think going from Mularkey to Cameron is like going from A.J. Feeley to Peyton Manning.

Would have been nice to keep Jeno, not knowing who will start at LG is troubling. Making your C a RG and RT a LT is hardly an improvement, anyone impressed with this is just being optimistic as most here are blinded by their Dolphin love.

Hadnot played better at RG in 2005 than he did at C this past season. I think that's almost a wash between he and Shelton manning the spot the past two seasons. He'll be fine.

Well, our offense has been ranked 28th or worse for the last decade or so... Can these changes make us any worse??

Joe Toledo is losing weight, he may still compete at gaurd, especially if they keep Wilson and Alabi.

It will take to mid season to see if we made improvement. New coach, new offense, new players at positions will make it hard to tell for awhile. I am not sold yet but time will tell with Cam/ Mueller being right about their moves!

If loving the Fins is a wrong then I don't want to be...

We can't help but get a little better, different Offensive outlook and some talent on the O-line, my goodness though, are easiest games come in the first couple of weeks, that is a problem, new almost everything on offense and our best chance of winning comes when they don't have much continuity on the O-line.

I also think our "D" will be better this year, not necessarily JT, but overall, Y Bell will start sooner and our D-line has gotten a bit younger.

I'm hoping that some definite starters on the Oline emerge at mini camp and in training camp. Then Houck can get them as gelled and comfortable and confident playing well together as possible by September. I don't want to have to wait until Week 8 or 9 before the Oline starts playing well this year. Been there and done that last year.

They need to know that system and their assignments and somehow learn the tendencies of each other like they've been playing together for years. That'll require a lot of reps, time together in the film room and in meetings, etc. Coach Houck needs to prove why he's a top Oline coach this year and coach em good and coach em hard ... physically and mentally. I want a super prepared, healthy, confident stable of Oline professionals ready to kick some azz by September. I'll be confident about our prospects in 2007 if we start hearing good news reports about the Oline in training camp.

I think that's why they are picking their starters so early, so we can come out in the 1st game with gun's blazing!

Finally someone on this site with some common sense.

There have been no material upgrades that one can point to except for CAm and Mueller organizational and strategic direction, not to mention working relationship.

Talent has yet to play a single down. Too soon to say anything.

Here are actually all of the changes:

LT - Vernon Carey replaces Dmac
RT - LJ Shelton replaces Vernon Carey
C - Sammson Satele replaces Rex Hadnot
G - Liwienski replaces Jeno James
G - Hadnot replaces LJ Shelton
QB - Either Cleo Lemon/Duante Culpepper/Trent Green replaces Joey Harrington/Injured Culpepper. This is a huge change
RB - Lorenzo Booker replaces Sammy Morris
TE - David Martin replaces Randy McMichael - Personally, I think this will be a good thing. McMichael was cut for a reason and I got tired of seeing him drop passes on critical third downs and miss as many blocking assignments as he did.
WR - Wes Welker will be replaced by somebody. Possibly Hagan. I doubt Ginn will be able to do that in his first year although he may see some time on the field.
Offensive Coordinator - Mike Mularkey will be replaced by Cam Cameron.
New offensive system

So, I think you have alot of starters that are changing. I didn't even mention the fullback or the other running back position because it's just crazy right now, but there is significant change on offense. It's easier to say what isn't changing that what is changing. The only starters returning from last year on offense in the same position that they were playing last year are Ronnie Brown, Chris Chambers, and Marty Booker. Everything else is either someone new, or someone playing a different position.

We have alot of question marks this year. How will the O-line play together? basically all new starters at their positions. Who will be our QB? Whomever it is out of the available choices should be better than Joey Harrington was last year. Will cams system and play calling be better than Mularkeys? Umm, I sure hope so, and I believe it will be. Hopefully we won't abandon the run because the other team farted in the endzone once you know? We shall see, but the offense is very different this year than last...
