Simple recipe..
Jets have an insane pass D. They hurry (not sack) the Qb like no other team. They overload one side and blitz creating confusion for the Oline.
With that said, the Dolphins have a plan in place which dictates a run heavy approach. We are the second team this year the Jets will be playing that runs the ball effectively, the Titans being the other team, and if anyone watched that game they would know that the Titans should have won that game if it were not for their kick returner fumbling twice in the redzone. Titans Dline got to Sanchez a lot showing the truth about the Jets Oline, OVERRATED!
Teams like the Saints, Patriots and Texans all play into the favor of the Jets because of their finesse style of football. Dolphins dont play that brand of football. Dolphins will smash it up the middle, put more blockers on the field to smash it some more and every once in a while there might be a simple short or intermediate read for Henne. Henne probably throws the ball 20 times. Compare that to Matt Shaub who threw 33 times, Brady who threw 47 times, Kerry Collins who threw 37 times (they were put in a big hole early bc of the costly TOs), and Brees who threw it 32 times.
Its simple. Two things the Fins need to do to win this game...
1) Win the LOS on offense. If Fins OL creates holes and gives a push up front as they have done in the past 3 weeks, we have 1/2 of the recipe for success. Jets run D (dont get it confused with their nasty pass D) is just average. This is the game we brought Jake Grove in for. He played exceptionally well last year vs. Kris Jenkins. Having Donald Thomas doesn't hurt either. (Last year versus this type of defense it what Samson Satele, who is on the bench for the Raiders and Ike Ndukwe who rides the pine for the Chiefs, starting for us. Not good)
2) No turnovers. Henne will need to hold onto the ball in passing situations. This is the one game where I will take a less than 50% completion percentage as long as those throws are being thrown out of bounds. The Jets WILL get pressure on us and its imortant Henne takes the sack or throws the ball away. Obviously if Henne can make a play with his feet or find an open man with pressure in his face, all the props to him but with start number 2 coming up, I think the Fins will create a very simple gameplan for him. 3rd and longs, play conservative. Run it on first and second down and make for easier third down conversions. Fins need to be realistic, they do not have the skill players and the pass protection to make the big plays downfield.
As for our defense, I have confidence in them. This is the time of year where it seems like every year, they start to play much better. Realistically too, this defense only played ONE bad game. ATL was decent, stopping Turner all game, Colts was a mess, Chargers, we stopped the run game but gave up a couple of deep throws but held a very underrated Philip Rivers to his worst game statistically this season, and the Bills, we took advantage of a weaker team but also showed great pass D against a great WR core (on paper).
The Jets will be the worst offense we will have played thus far. Rookie QB with an Oline that seems to be playing worse as the season continues, simple playbook to account for, no effective run game. The acquisition of Braylon Edwards, FOR THIS GAME, should not be an issue as I see him contributing more or less as a decoy, running deep routes and such. Edwards also has shown that he sucks but that's besides the point, the kid does have potential.
