Dolphins Offseason Thread (Mandatory Mini-Camp 6/10 - 6/12)

Yep, you cannot have enough good, young pass rushers. With what we had last year he'd have definitely been playing. I'm rooting for the guy, would be a nice story of perseverance
Same for D Eskridge at WR. Hes been on IR from the get go. He looks promising when healthy.

That article is just guessing. Making a task harder than the game, with an element(tennis ball) that isn’t actually in the game is irrelevant because it doesn’t replicate the game, they catch it completely different. An example of this being useful would be baseball training with smaller balls, doesn’t change the swing, so it replicates the game and makes it more difficult than the actual game.

That doesn’t mean there is no value in catching tennis balls. The value is in the variability of the training though. The body and mind react really well to variability and tend to find more solutions to problems that standard non variable practice offers.

Yeah I get that’s it’s a thing..

Your thought is correct though. They can take the value that comes from the tennis ball and impart it while using a football. It would be much more effective. The tennis ball only does one thing the football won’t.

Break up monotony and create some fun. Which is actually a good thing for motor learning and skill acquisition.

Some good stuff from Joe Schad on yesterday's OTA. I've heard his takes on Zach Wilson backed up on a few podcasts, it's early but encouraging nonetheless -
Zach Wilson fired an eye-opening laser beam to Tarik Black
Zach Wilson’s arm strength and zip cannot be questioned
Zach Wilson connected with Dee Eskridge on a deep ball
Dee Eskridge had a nice contested catch in traffic from Zach Wilson

He is, I believe he did the same thing in '23 when he wanted a new contract. It led to a "hold-in" in training camp, he ended up with a new contract after the conclusion of camp that year. He'll likely take the same "hold-in" tact this year minus a revised contract prior to camp.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. When I saw his name pop up, I immediately thought of that last contract negotiation tactic. It just hasn't been reported on very much yet.

They talked about the '23 situation on Dolphins Collective last night, how Zach got sick of the whole thing, he came out to practice, and his teammates kicked him out of the huddle. Told him not to come back out there until he got his money. It came from Omar, take it with a shaker of salt.
