Can Miami Dolphins' Chop Robinson make the leap to elite pass rusher?
The Miami Dolphins could have one of the top pass rush trios in the NFL with Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson. Chop may top 10+ sacks?

- Miami Dolphins edge rusher Chop Robinson aims to increase his sack count in his second season.
- If Robinson, Bradley Chubb, and Jaelan Phillips stay healthy, the Dolphins' pass rush could improve drastically.
- Robinson is receiving mentorship from Chubb and aims to mentor younger players like Kenneth Grant.
In
Jason Taylor's rookie season for the
Miami Dolphins, he posted five sacks.
The next year? It was up to nine.
In
Cam Wake's rookie season for the
Miami Dolphins, he posted 5.5 sacks.
The next year? It was up to 14.
In
Chop Robinson's rookie season for the
Miami Dolphins, he posted six sacks.
The next year? We'll see.
"The goals of mine, I just want to keep it to myself," Chop said during May offseason workouts. "Just show the world. And show myself."
We can guess Chop is secretly targeting double-digit sacks.
That's a mark former Dolphins pass rushers Olivier Vernon and Adewale Ogunleye surpassed in their sophomore seasons.
That's a number current Dolphins edge rusher
Bradley Chubb has hit twice in his career.
Jaelan Phillips hasn't hit it yet, mostly due to injuries.
“I’m super excited. Just imagining the three of us on the field at the same time," Chop said of the potential trio, adding, "It can kind of mess up the offense’s mind because they wouldn’t know what to do.”
If Chubb, Phillips and Robinson can all stay healthy, the Dolphins' pass rush should take a huge jump. And this could theoretically aid a rebuilt secondary.
Chubb has been spotted working with Robinson on hand placement and movement.
"He’s still doing the same thing, being a mentor and stuff, but he’s also out there helping me perfect my craft," Robinson said.
Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver figures to lean on pass rush more in 2025.
One advantage Robinson will have going into Year 2 is his offseason is less focused on combine training and more on football training.
Can Chop Robinson do Cam Wake-type things in 2025?
"I was able to take some time, rest my body, rest my mental, get away from football a little bit," Chop said. "Then once I started back working out, it was just all football stuff. I didn’t have to be a track star for the whole offseason, so now I’m just able to get my body right, my mental right and I just feel good.”
As a rookie, Chop did not have a sack in his first eight games. But then he had 3.5 in his next three games.
Chop leaned on veterans like Chubb and Phillips last year. And now, as a second-year player, he can pass along a few tips to rookie linemen like Kenneth Grant.
“Just stay patient and just keep working," Robinson said.
