Dolphins Offseason Thread (Mandatory Mini-Camp 6/10 - 6/12)

What is it that you don’t like about Bonner compared to the other corners in our team? He’s young, he’s prob the fastest guy out there and had a pretty solid camp last yr. He’s def showed more than cam smith

Just they hyped him up last offseason then he played only 16 snaps

Yeah, a few athletic, splash, ooh ahh plays gets hype.

The problem is, that proves nothing about assignment soundness or rotating quickly/properly in complex zone coverages.

I would like to think he learned a lot last year about playing CB in the NFL.

Guess we'll see....

How the F is it possible he's not 10000000000% ?!?!?!?
I’m thinking he’s probably talking about football ready. You can’t sit out that long and be 100% on day 2 of OTA’s and expect to be 100% with the defensive scheme (for a DC you’ve never played for), nor would I think 100% when it comes to hitting, tackle, etc at full speed.

So here we are again, gents. Reports of DL having their way with the OL. I really REALLY hope they can gel and be a plus unit for this campaign. As far as I'm concerned the only squared-away spot on the line is Center...potentially RT if Jackson doesn't lose anything. And this is at best, God forbid we lose a starter...injury is no longer an acceptable excuse for Grier and company.

One guard is brand-new and will need time to grow into the NFL, the other is coming off a big injury, RT coming off a big injury, and LT is still raw and young. M*A*S*H* unit without the comedy.

But I'll keep hoping...without good reason or logic...but hoping.

I wouldn’t, even with past history, take these reports seriously. This OL is working together for the first time. The DL, even with new players, doesn’t have the same learning curve as the OL. Not to mention that we typically see defenses gel faster than offenses.

And I'm told that every year, before the OL stinks up the joint. Track-record considered, I don't see how anybody could expect different this season.

Cam Smith certainly looks like a bust at this point. Gone through two defensive coordinators who didn't think much of him and not off to a good start now

One thing is for sure, Tua will get no credit for doing anything in these practices due to the state of the secondary being so bad, can't really blame them either

Take these notes with a grain of salt. There's no authentic pass rush either....

Cam Smith coming back in after a few plays is a good sign of toughness.

I still think Cam Smith, Storm Duck, Jason Marshall, and Kohou will emerge. Let the young guys grow

What OL players in today’s OTA were playing on the OL last year?

2 seasons ago, and before injuries decimated the OL, they played well. However, not many of those guys are here any longer.

Unfortunately it's going to take a couple years to build a top oline.

I do think they got the right players at rg and lt, but one is a rookie, the other is a little raw although has flashed.

Daniels is meh at this point coming off an Achilles. It usually takes 1 and a half years to get back from that injury 100%.

The goal is for this group to obviously stay healthy and emerge in December as a plus unit that is on the up

In what NFL world does new always equal better, especially under the current regime?

And injuries ALWAYS decimate our OL...and given 3 of our expected starters have had season-ending injuries in the past (all of them except the rookie contracts), color me doubtful this unit can hold it down all year at a level some other teams enjoy.

What have they and this staff shown that gives any reason whatsoever to believe this will be a plus unit, aside from them being new faces?
