Dolphins Offseason Thread (Mandatory Mini-Camp 6/10 - 6/12)

So here we are again, gents. Reports of DL having their way with the OL. I really REALLY hope they can gel and be a plus unit for this campaign. As far as I'm concerned the only squared-away spot on the line is Center...potentially RT if Jackson doesn't lose anything. And this is at best, God forbid we lose a starter...injury is no longer an acceptable excuse for Grier and company.

One guard is brand-new and will need time to grow into the NFL, the other is coming off a big injury, RT coming off a big injury, and LT is still raw and young. M*A*S*H* unit without the comedy.

But I'll keep hoping...without good reason or logic...but hoping.

Unfortunately it's going to take a couple years to build a top oline.

I do think they got the right players at rg and lt, but one is a rookie, the other is a little raw although has flashed.

Daniels is meh at this point coming off an Achilles. It usually takes 1 and a half years to get back from that injury 100%.

The goal is for this group to obviously stay healthy and emerge in December as a plus unit that is on the
In what NFL world does new always equal better, especially under the current regime?

And injuries ALWAYS decimate our OL...and given 3 of our expected starters have had season-ending injuries in the past (all of them except the rookie contracts), color me doubtful this unit can hold it down all year at a level some other teams enjoy.

What have they and this staff shown that gives any reason whatsoever to believe this will be a plus unit, aside from them being new faces?

Nothing is guaranteed obviously.

The hope is that Paul and Jonah are stars. Obviously

I still have no clue why the letter Robert Hunt go. Wilkins I get because of the contract but oline is always a top priority. Top oline will always cost a lot.

I think at the time he signed with the Panthers, Hunt was the 2nd or 3rd highest paid OG in the NFL. I don’t think he’s worth that much. I liked him, but I’m glad they let him walk for that price.

Perkins very purposefully stated on YouTube that while they can't report which specific position players are practicing at, or which string, that Eich has practiced at only one position so far, and that he had bad snap today.

So what he's implying is that Eich is not in consideration for either starting Guard spot, which ostensibly means that his only direct path to the active roster is beating out Meyer for OC2. That's good news.

It’s one day of otas it means nothing

So, wait, players coming in and being ready to work hard is a “culture change.” Got it. Sounds fantastic.
Lol

Ahhh man that’s funny

So sick of the talk

Play angry, practice hard, work on your craft by yourself when no ones looking or gtfo

Agree to disagree. I'm willing to overpay for quality olineman

I get what you're saying tho.

Yeah but even that was questionable. He started off very slow not being great his first two years. His 3rd year was fantastic and he played every game but then his 4th and contract year he was injured and missed almost half the season so hard to pay a guy with a year and a half of great player the 2nd highest paid guard in the league. Personally would of been okay either way resigning he would of been a big overpay but semi agree with you and I think he was certainly a better option than Wilkins ever was who got like 10 million over what he was worth compared to Hunt at 5 million over on the other hand he’s a 10-15 area guard getting paid top 3 money.
