A bunch of Saturday Dolphins notes as we await Dolphins-Cardinals:• Not only does the Dolphins’ future look brighter now, but they will have the financial wherewithal to augment the roster.

The Dolphins have $136.5 million committed for 2017 cap purposes, with the cap expected to rise from $155 million to at least $160 million. The Dolphins are doing their internal numbers at $160 million, but cap expert Joel Corry projects a $168 million cap.

Factoring in $13 million in carryover space (according to a team source), the Dolphins will have $36 million to $44 million in space.

Two expected moves - cutting Mario Williams and Koa Misi --- will save another $8.5 million and $4.2 million respectively, raising the Dolphins’ cap space to $49 million to $57 million.

That money should be important for resigning key players....Jones, Stills, Alonzo...

I would also look at resigning Sims, Michael Thomas and Rambo...

Left over money should be used on bringing in a guard or two....don't need top shelf talent, but continue to upgrade.

Roll over some for the Landry resigning the next year

They will get juice done this offseason...keep sims too

Doesn't sound like Jenkins will get right this season so vj has to go with Hewitt and just live with the results

You better extend Landry sometime next season with Jones
before both become free agents in 2018.If you extend Jones next season
and NOT Landry you might have one pissed off player who could test free agency.
Teams would be lining up to throw money at him.

I agree. We need 1 more good LB for 2 man sets, preferably with all 3 skills--coverage, pass rush and run stopping. Then we need a 2 down Sam/Thumper type, which I think can be had in the middle to later rounds or cheaply in FA. We still have 1-2 OG needs and a huge TE need ... seems odd that they didn't mention moving on from Cameron, but that's a given. Some of those needs can be found relatively cheaply in FA, freeing us up to draft DE and CB with maybe 1 more OG in the third or 4th.

I think people are going to be shocked by the type of offers Sims will get as a free agent. And I predict Landry will be difficult negotiation. He sees himself as a top WR in the game but from the Dolphins point of view they want to get him involved less, because the more he's involved the less we win.

Landry may see himself in that light but nobody will pay him too WR money.

His agent knows his value. 10 per year would be a fine contract.
