Dolphins one of two teams to view Albert as high priority

anyone else think this could be a smokescreen. I have a tendency to just about not believe anything i hear this time of year.

I don't think so. Miami needs a lot off offensive line help and Albert is one of the top tackles going to be on the market, so hearing they are interested makes sense.

Plus it was around this time last year when the rumors and talk connecting Wallace to Miami began. I think the interest here is legitimate and if I had to put money on where he would end up, the Dolphins is the spot. Philbin really wanted him last year, the Dolphins are likely willing to meet his asking price and he just recently bought a home in Miami. Just seems like this is destined to happen.

I just hope they don't break the bank for him with his age and injury history. If all we needed was a LT I could see us ging all ou for him but we have many holes and you can't spend all your money on 1 player when you need 4 new starting linemen.

Ozzy rules!!

I would be good with Albert but I would rather get Monroe. Collins could work too, the Dolphins definitely have options

It makes more sense to acquire the experienced blindside protector in free agency and get the RT In the Draft who may have the ability to develop into a left tackle.

I see this as their plan with two interior lineman getting drafted as well, this draft is really deep with interior lineman.

There are probably only 2 guys in the draft who could step in and start at LT, and neither one is a sure fire dominant player. There are probably 6 or 7 who could develop into a nice starting LT though. So the right answer is to get a starter LT in FA and draft the best O linemen you can to groom. Is Albert the best FA? No. Is he the best fit for Miami? I don't think so. Can Miami get the best FA or best fitting FA LT? Probably not (Monroe, Veldheer). So now what? Albert has to be a consideration if you're on a faster track to succeed.

Music to my ears:

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins "very much like" free agent LT Eugene Monroe, and plan to pursue him if he reaches the open market.
According to sources "briefed on the team’s thinking," the Dolphins would be happy with either Monroe or fellow free agent LT Branden Albert. It's an indication new GM Dennis Hickey plans to be far-more aggressive about upgrading Miami's pitiful offensive line than Jeff Ireland was. Ireland's 2013 line was a wing-and-a-prayer that turned into a waking nightmare. Albert is expected to reach free agency, but Monroe's odds of hitting the open market are murkier. Feb 25 - 10:17 PM

How I see it is the Dolphins have to show interest and go through the motions with Albert. However, I believe our true targets will be Monroe and Collins in the hopes that one hits free agency. If neither makes it past their current teams then I am sorry to say we will be offering Albert max dollars to try and outbid the Cardinals. My hope is we can nab Collins or Monroe for less than the Cardinals will end up paying for Albert as he is the clear #1 on the market.

Then turn our attention to Beadles and Wade Smith to sure up the interior of our zone line.

I live out here in Phoenix. All the radio guys & beat writers want Albert and think the Cards will pay to get him.

I honestly think there are better options for us. Yes, he's a high quality tackle, but age & injury concerns attached to a big contract have me wanting to look elsewhere.
I'd agree
