As i stated on mon i had legit sources that told me that we contacted bob stoops agent over the weekend and that saban was going to take the bama job,i'am not gonna reiterate too much,if you want to read about my source and the whole story there is a thread that i started with the title "say it is'nt so", bottom line is one of my friends was recruited by kstate by stoops and became life long friends,i am in that circle.

He told me that stoops is intrigued and that his wife has always wanted to live in s. florida, anyways this is my whole take,

I'am excited about this, not just about stoops but the fact that we have a great owner that is a leader,he got me excited this morning and i'am happy that we know that saban's heart was'nt in it,or should i say his family's heart was'nt in it,let me explain,
I truly believe that saban is the kind of man that wants this challenge, but let me ask all of you this before we are so quick to judge,if you were nick and your wife and children came to you and said, daddy we don't like it here, what are you gonna say to that? "NO, i don't care what you think," i must win a superbowl" come on guys, if he was a bachelor it would be different but he's not and he did the right thing for his family. The power of a woman is pretty strong.

I was really excited this morning once i found out and i hope you guys will be as well, now lets go find ourselves a great coach that truly wants to be here.

My favorite Stoops joke:

Three college football coaches were flying across the country when their airplane crashed and all three died. They all noticed God up in the clouds sitting in a chair. God motioned for one of them to come into the clouds.

God wanted to know three things: "Who are you? What did you do? What did people think of you?"

The first coach said, "I'm Joe Paterno. I coached Penn State from 1966 to 2000. I won 300 games, 19 bowl victories, 2 national championships, and won Coach of the Year 4 times. The people of Pennsylvania think I'm great." God said, "Fine, Joe, stand at my right side."

The next person said, "I'm Bobby Bowden. I coached Florida State University from 1980 to 2000. I had a .816 win percentage, played in 14 bowl games without a loss and won a national championship after beating Nebraska. The people of Florida think I'm great." God said, "Fine, Bobby, stand at my left side."

The third coach stood before God and said, "I'm Bob Stoops. I took over a storied Oklahoma program that had won 6 national championships and held many NCAA records but had fallen to the lowest of the low. In the 3 years prior to me taking over the Sooners they went 3-8 (worst season in 102 years of football), 4-8, and 5-6, beating Texas only once and not beating Colorado or Nebraska, not to mention losing to OSU. I coached the Sooners for a season and a half, going 7-5 in my first year beating a top-15 Texas A&M with my unranked team and taking the Sooners to a bowl game. 7 games into my second season we were undefeated and I took the Sooners to #1 in the AP poll, Coaches poll, and BCS poll. We beat #10 Texas 63-14, #2 Kansas State in Manhattan 41-31, and #1 Nebraska 31-14. Our quarterback was the frontrunner for the Heisman trophy, we were in the driver's seat for the national championship, and the people of Oklahoma think you are sitting in my chair."

He would be my first choice, but he certainly isn't my last either. Chalk him up for an interview, and see how it goes. We've got nothing to lose by listening to him....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I am leaning towards hiring Norm Chow or bringing back Bates but if do dip into the college coaching ranks, I would be happy with Stoops. I don't know how long he'd last. As Saban found out, the pace is much more strenuous at this level.

nice,,,,i would take stoops in a heart beat

I agree OC/minded coach, OC from Pittsburgh intrigues me. Loves to Run and isnt scared to throw it deep. Everything I hope our team would do.

As long as our offense game plans with that in mind and not talk about it after the game, "as i wish we could have should have".

He may need to clean house and i dont have a problem with that, it just might be what we need to right the ship instead of using pieces to pieces to patch up the ship.

Our franchise is to valuable to let it go to waste, and the coach we bring in has to be about that not speak about it....there is a Shula out there (not his son) that would lead us to the promise land

Thats my 2 cents

I think Stoops would be a good fit...I just think we need to look at current coordinators first before hiring another very successful college coach. With coordinators, you know most time that they have been waiting for that opportunity to be an NFL coach, but now as Saban has showed us (and Spurrier before him), some want the thrill of the NFL challenge while keeping one foot still on a college campus. As for Chow, I think he will be reunited with Leinart in AZ. I would like us to get a guy like Ken Wisenhunt who loves to run the ball and he doesn't overdo it with the trick plays like Mularkey.

From ESPN: Today, Stoops remains among the best-paid college coaches at $3.45 million a season. Stoops is also among fraternity members who will collect $100,000 for his team's BCS bowl appearance. If his Sooners finish in the final Top 10, his contract says he's owed an additional $75,000.

It will take another big offer from WH to talk him into leaving OK.

I want a defensive minded coach,i don't want to go thru what we had here when dan was our QB,DEFENSE,DEFENSE,DEFENSE,RUNNING GAME,DONE

No more college coaches. We need a NFL Coordinator. Sean Payton, Mangini, both coordinators, both in the playoffs. Give me Bates and a new offensive coordinator. It's not what he did, it's the way he went about it.
