Teddy Covers over at sportsmemo.com still seems to think the Dolphins can win more than 9 games this year. Here's what he has to say:

"The Dolphins won nine games last year with a first year head coach, quarterback problems, a weak offensive line and constantly changing personnel on both sides of the football. This year, the Dolphins are poised for even more success...." (read more)

Someone else had an interesting post about teams starting 0-2 and still making it to the super bowl. Remember last year??? The Fins started out 3-7 and then won the last 6 games. Maybe it just takes a few games for quarterbacks to be effective in Saban's system. Don't panic yet.

For the record no team has ever won the super bowl after starting 0-2. Also........

I calculated today and i think we will only win 9 games MAX! (i know i hate to say it)

We won't win more because.......

Our secondary is weak at best. We need Travis back.
Our o-line is worse this year in my opinion because of injuries.
And frankly, i know he will be good eventually but, Gus was decent last year because he didn't turn the ball over! Daunte is turning it over, and at BAD TIMES!

I still have faith and we can make the playoffs but the AFC is VERY STRING THIS YEAR

Um, the 2001 Patriots started 0-2 and won the Super Bowl. I'm pretty sure Dallas did it too in the 90's.

I think too many people around here are completely focused on the Playoffs, the Superbowl and our final record.

We're in September, we watch the games play by play. The Fins need to improve their basic play just to be competitive. It was good to see Roth making plays, and Ronnie getting some yards and Carter getting his sacks.

The Dolphins could miss the playoffs entirely and STILL have a better record than last year, and STILL be a much improved team. It becomes a distraction to always be talking about the finish line and not the actual race.

this writer loses all credibility from the get go

with this statement

Daunte Culpepper has been a winner and a leader in Minnesota throughout the first half of his career,

Duantes' record as a starter for the Vikings 39-42

You are correct. The Cowboys did it in 1993, I believe.

before last year, no team that was a 6th seed won the superbowl. Anything can happen...but 0-3 would be a different story, so let's hope we get a nice convincing win this weekend

another quote from this idiot writer

The offensive line improved dramatically as the season progressed last year under the tutelage of position coach Hudson Houck. They should be even better in 2006 with the addition of former first rounder LJ Shelton at left tackle along with Bennie Anderson

I think its difficult to "calculate" how many wins this team will finish with. I mean, last year the Dolphins were 3-7 and coming off a horrible loss to cleveland. NO ONE on this board or anywhere in the fanbase would have predicted we'd rip off 6 in a row to finish the year (9-7).

Point is, you never know. IF we win the next two games, we're 2-2 and spirits are changed a little bit around here. Who knows, from there, we could win 3 of our next 4 and be in a great shape. Hell, we could also lose our next 4 in and be 0-6.

Kinda just have to trust the coaching staff and the players to get it going right....and it starts Sunday with Tennesee. If they can win that game, its a start.

you are 100% rite!...to many people r talkin about the superbowl, the playoffs, and the final record. Its mid sept..were 0-2..we need to all calm down and take it 1 game at a time. Now we have Tenn. at home next game. To me this game should be won with ease!... If Culpepper can calm down and throw like he did 2 years ago. (yeah alot of people say its all because of moss he did good...but i think CC is better than Moss...and for some reason hes wide open all the time but Culpepper wont throw to him.)...so like i was saying..if he starts throwing to CC more than they should have NO problem beating Tenn. He also needs to forget about the knee and run if its open. And Ronnie needs to be getting more than 15 touches a game!

as pointed out, your official record is wrong.

Our secondary is weak at best. We need Travis back.
Our pass defense is ranked 5th in the NFL. If we didn't have miscom cues in the first game, may be even higher.

Our o-line is worse this year in my opinion because of injuries.

Agree with most of this. But I will be patient, I am forever an optimist sort of. Inside of me I think we can win every game (even in baseball, before every game I feel we can win). Give cpep some time. How many people were calling for Gus' head last year? Everyone.

Not if they keep playing the way they have!
