I can understand honoring Mandich, but Howard Schnellenberger and St. Thomas Aquinas HS Coach?? They are really stretching it in an effort to fill seats.

What next? Honoring Jim Kelly and the early 90s Bills at the home game against the Bills? Heck, Kelly is a former Cane! And there are a ton of Bills fans in South Florida. This would surely fill seats! What do we have to lose?

Is it worth it for you to go? Go.

Is it not? Don't.

I don't get the hubub. At worst, it's a nice thing to do.

The things people get upset about baffle me.

These guys are just grasping at straws now. Just sad really. Sorry Howard. Your a good man.

Im not upset by it, but they are truly scraping the bottom of the barrel if they are resorting to honoring a high school coach in order to sell tickets. Its just sad at this point.

As a Cardinal Gibbons alum, I hate St. Thomas and their bankrolled football team.

I don't have a problem with it. If you aren't moving tickets any other way, why not?
I seriously doubt these things will move tickets at all, but if they do, what's the harm?

Maybe they can blow up Disco records at halftime..........No, wait....

Well hopefully Week 1 in 2012 they'll be celebrating the arrival of their new coaching staff with Andrew Luck, a big Free Agent signing, and some other good young rookies.

More likely we'll be celebrating an OL or DL-man who turns out to be a bust, an unintelligent coach/s, an overpaid and overrated FA acquisition, and some more Dallas Cowboys cast-offs. We'll still have a GREAT punter though!!

They can do whatever they want to try and sell tickets. If you aren't going to win, people aren't going to waste their time going to see a 12 minute halftime show let alone a full game of disappointment.

I agree. Mandich yes, but the rest of the people? How in the H-E-double chopsticks did Ross make his billions? Can a billionaire really be this stupid?

Considering most former Dolphins send their kids to STA, I'm not surprised they would honor Coach Smith. Half of STA's roster is former Dolphins kids. Shula's grandsons went there, Marino's daughters go there, Bryan Cox's kid is there, Cris Carters kid went there. Those are just the big names. Lots more have played for STA.
Also it doesn't hurt that Coach Smith is one of if not the best HS Football coach.

A few things. 1. The Dolphins have been honoring high school coaches from the area for years. 2. Howard Schnellenberger was a big part of the Miami Dolphins undefeated season. He was a terrific coach for the Dolphins, and Hurricanes. 3. What the **** is wrong with honoring local sports legends, Dolphins or not? Out of towners have such a flawed logic of what a professional sports franchise is supposed to be.

Ireland and Sparano will be gone....no Cowboys castoffs! There is no way we don't select a QB in the first round, with a Top 5 pick in a deep QB class. People will riot. It won't be "Occupy Sun Life", it would be "Burn Sun Life to the Ground" if they don't select a QB.

Ross may want to make an offer to Coach Smith while he's got him cornered.

I'm on the sidelines with coaches every Friday night that understand strategy, clock management, and situational game awareness on a different frequency than Tony Sparano. Stone cold fact right there, folks.

Watching Sparano coach is absolutely gut wrenching simply from a practical perspective.
