Defense:
Defensive Line - Traylor and Holiday are playing better this year. Taylor having another good year. Grade A
Linebackers - Thomas and Crowder look like pro-bowlers. Spragan has regressed a little. No 4th linebacker has emerged. Grade A
Safeties - Hill and Tillman. Not a good sign when your backups are better than your starters. Grade D-
CB - Allen, Daniels, Goodman - Daniels has been injured this year. Goodman has been a pleasant surprise. Allen is playing like he did on the Giants. Not many ints. Not many Passes Defended. Grade C-

Offense:
QB - QB's not the problem. Grade B-
RB - RB is not the problem. Grade B
FB - Solid play, but not on the field. No production from this position. Not Barnes' fault, though. Grade D.
TE - McMichael and Peele. 2 receivers who play tight-end. Not very good blockers. McMichael was a "B+" last year. He is playing like a "C-" this year. Where's the tight-end coach? Grade C-
LT - Shelton was a D-. MacIntosh is a B. Grade C-
LG - James was ranked the #1 run-blocking guard in the league last year. Playing injured this year, he was a D. Grade D.
C - Hadnot was a C last year. This year he has struggled. Having problems with the Guards next to him hasn't helped. Grade D
RG - Combination - This problem position has gotten help from Carey and Hadnot all year long. Position ranks 4th in the NFL in run-blocking. Grade B
RT - Carey is ranked the #1 run-blocking tackle in the league this year. Grade A

*******
O-line Thoughts: Shelton was a bust at Left Tackle. Many of us saw this in the pre-season. Not sure why Hauck and Saban missed it. He was immobile, and played with poor technique. At Guard, he appears fine or good. Maybe as good as Hadnot last year. At Guard, nobody can run around him... and they don't have a running start to plow into him... like was evident at LT.

if McKinney was here, I'd move Hadnot back to Guard. Uncertain if he has what it takes to play Center. Hadnot needs to improve or be replaced. Not many options to replace him. Berger and Jacox have played Center this year. It appears Berger will fill in for James in the Chicago game.

if Carey is the best o-lineman, then why isn't he playing Left Tackle?

Just because you are a good RT doesn't mean you're cut out to be a good LT. LT is a position where the OT needs to be quick and have long wing span because he is dealing with speedy OLB's and speedy RE's like Jason Taylor types.

RT is more the better run blocker OT and deals mainly stopping the bigger LE's like Kevin Carter types.

Carey is an outstanding RT. We need a new LT next year.

Zach Thomas has regressed a ton, although he's still a solid player - the linebackers in no way should be ranked that high. Don't let stats fool you.. Zach has missed more tackles in these 7 games than he has in any 16-game season. Channing Crowder on the other hand, has been playing very well. Crowder is actually our best LB this year.

We have two good linebackers and the rest aren't anything more than special teamers.

Applaud your optimism on our offense but we are one of the worst in the league. Qb has been far from a B-. C-Pep was painful to watch and Harrington is not getting sacked but then again he usually takes a 3 step drop locks onto 1 receiver and throws that way for better or worse. How many picks does he have? I know some have been tips but a C would be generous. At RB - I like Brown alot but he has not been a B. He has had no holes but he has disappointed in his short yardage efforts. No way should a 230+lb RB get stopped on 3rd or 4th and 1. Sorry but RG has not been good this year - a B? That has been the biggest weakness on the line. How about D. Where do you get your rankings and are these guys watching the games? Carey an A? Nobody on our line should get above a C. How is he ranked #1 and our RG #4 and we can't run the ball. Who did your rankings?

On D I give our Dlinie a B. They have not been great on 3rd down getting much pressure consistently. LB's - no way are ZT and Crowder an A - you have aqua blinders on. ZT is down to 210 lbs they say and has gotten blown over a few times. He still comes to play but he cannot hold his ground in the middle. Crowder just decided to start playing the last 2 games. I'd give him a C. Spragan would be an F- if you can go that low - he is non existent on the field. Safeties are a B against the run and F- against the pass.

Carey has never had the feet to be an NFL left tackle. I always thought it was pure lack of forethought to ever think he would be our left tackle
