"More than one NFL scout has told The Post they're not as impressed with USC quarterback Matt Leinart as most seem to be. Pointing out that Leinart's arm strength is questionable and his surrounding cast may be the best in college history, not everyone believes he'll be the slam-dunk top-overall pick.

"He's certainly not as good as Carson Palmer and Eli Manning were," one scout said of two recent top overall picks. "With the Niners and Texans already having young quarterbacks (Alex Smith, David Carr), he really might not go till No. 3 at the earliest."

The Cardinals, Ravens and Dolphins are all clubs in desperate need of new blood at QB"

I am more impressed with Brady Quinn we probably will not get a chance at either one if we finish 8-8 or better.

I thought he looked good yesterday against ND, but you can tell his arm strenghth isn't there. He threw a couple of balls that were vastly underthrown that could have resulted in a TD. He throws those in the NFL and they get picked.

Have to agree, after seeing Leinert play against ND he wasn't that impressive.
Barring injury give Brady Quinn another year of college, he could make it in the NFL.

how about that USC vs notre dame game....

wow.. probably one of the best comebacks ive seen...

what game did you watch... he wasnt impressive for one game and suddenly his a dud? the leads his team from down 3 on the road to win the game in final seconds..

Leinart played an average game yesterday but still showed why he's the best QB in the country. 4th down, he calls an audible and delivers. It takes balls the size of trucks to call that audible in that situation, and it takes even more skill to actually complete it.

Leinart is by far the best QB to come out of college.

I agree. He has the technique and leadership abilities, but his arm strength is going to hold him back from being a great qb in the NFL.

If it wasn't for Reggie Bush, he made the difference. The best team doesn't always win and Notre Dames stats were much better, in other areas, and the clock question is still debateable.

Leinarts arm is good enough for the NFL. Yes some guys have better arms but he can make the throws he needs to make to be successful. Id rather have a guy with his brain and leadership with a decent arm than a guy with rocks in his head and a cannon. You dont have to throw 60 yard bombs to win in the NFL. Tons of people said Brady didnt have a great arm either, some idiots still say it. He makes the plays his team needs and he wins. If we have a shot at this guy and we pass him up we're nuts.

yea, anyway Leinert wont be there at pick 32.

At least someone's confident.....

I wasn't too impressed with Leinart anyway, i know the guy wins games, and look how he drove USC down field to win yesterday in a Tom Brady-esque fashion. But i'd much rather have someone like Vince Young, Omar Jacobs, Marcus Vick heck even Michael Robinson if we were to take a QB.
