Dolphins' poor start rooted in five years of bad drafts

Or maybe, just maybe you labelled Matty ice ''franchise material'' a bit too soon...

He has one of the best won loss records of any qb. never had a losing season and a mid 80's career qb rating with 72 tds and 38 int he is a franchise qb. compare his his first 4 seasons to manning's and please show me how manning was so much better.

I didn't say they were a great team and I totally agree about their coaching and personnel departments being better than ours. Demitroff is leaps and bounds above what Ireland could ever hope to be. They did, however, have way fewer holes to fill and were in way better position to fill them then we were. They were also just about forced to take a QB high by the Vick fiasco. I applaud them for taking the opprotunity to fill the QB spot like they did, but so far all Ryan has proven to be is a choke artist. It's still very early for him, but so far he seems to fall apart when the playoff pressure is on.

i think u need to go back and look at that falcon team they had just as many holes as us. They in fact needed a RB, , Ol bigtime, plenty of holes on defense That Falcons team had the 29th ranked defense and 29th ranked offense. people want to act like ryan went to a ready made contender when the Falcons had not had a winning season in three years prior and havent had a losing season since he got there

I agree completely.I don't regret them taking Long over Ryan.To me,Ryan is a good,not great,QB.

Now,can you win some meaningful games with him? Absolutely.Maybe good enough to win a 'ship, but by no means do I consider him an elite QB.When I think of elite Qb's,only 5 come to mind

P.Manning
T.Brady
D.Brees
A.Rodgers
P.Rivers

Your trying to tell me Ryans name can be placed among that group??? The guy hasn't even won a playoff game yet!

Funny how when people on this board compare Henne's first's year to Mannings, he's crucified. But its ok to do it with Matt Ryan? On the other hand its not ok to compare Ryan's stats this year to compare with Henne's...? Look Im not trying to feed you that Henne is better than Ryan, or that Ryan isnt a franchise QB. Just saying its way to soon to tell people they arent paying attention because they dont agree with you...

I guess people forget manning was 0-2 in playoffs at one time and did not win a playoff game for six years but he turned out ok, brees took how many years before he had playoff or even nfl success, Neither Rodgers or rivers had won playoff games by their third year and well brady is in a class all by himself.

Again, I never said they were a championship ready team. All I said was that they were in a much better position to fill their holes than we were. We had a bunch of names that were past their prime whereas the talent they had was a lot younger. They also had more picks to play with than we did.

you have to compare more than one season but not one season of Henne compares to any of Ryan's including this one. henne hasnt even had a seson where he has threw more tds than ints. I will say again so u dont misquote me , if u think that matt Ryan is just a servicable qb then u really are not paying attention. at the very least he is a good qb. Debate franchise all u like but to say he is just servicable is just complete ignorance of what he has done on the field

Well I never said he wasnt good, that wasnt me. My point is he hasnt proven anything yet, and for you to say people arent paying attention based only on your own OPINION is a reach...

if one says he is only a servicable qb what would u say they were doing, making a well informed decision. its obvious he is a good qb now like I said whether he is franchise qb that would be a matter of debate. please tell me how my comment is a reach. There is no logical basis to say he is not a good qb. He has proven he is a good qb, he has proven to be beyond servicable. he has proven about as much as you can in three years of play or I guess u feel that any qb that does not win a playoff game or super bowl in three years cannot be regarded as a good qb.

Well, for one thing, how many people are still on our team from the '07 season that produced anything (and Jason Taylor doesn't count)? Even those three that you named are more than we had.

My opinion as well as the majority of so called experts in the nfl feel he is a top qb and a great amount feel he is a franchise qb but thats an opinion and unfortunately people only judge so called franchise qb's by super bowl rings. By these standards Dan marino was not a franchise qb and i would definately beg to differ on that. qb's get greatly overrated based on their team winning a superbowl although many a great qb has won a superbowl,
