Dolphins possibly pursuing Reggie Nelson (FS) from Cincy - Sun Sent Rumor

Cris Collinsworth, Percy Harvin, Jack Youngblood, Emmitt Smith, Fred Taylor, James Jones, and Louis Oliver....you're right, those silly Gators never do anything in the NFL! :p
That's a short list for a team that's had around 200+ guys drafted especially when you're going all the way back to 1971 when Jack Youngblood was drafted. And James Jones? The same James Jones that was drafted by the Lions in 1983? The one with something like 3650 career rushing yards...really?

How do you forget Nat Moore and Trace Armstrong by the way...smh.

I like the idea... and he "would" be replacing Bell. By Jones sliding to SS and Nelson taking over at FS.

They are not as good as Hurricane players in the NFL, but Gator players don't suck in the NFL.

Hell no I'm not joking.

I'll give the Gators - Emmitt Smith, Jack Youngblood, Javon Kearse, Trace Armstrong, and Fred Taylor (but only 7 out of the 13 seasons he was healthy). * Markice Pouncey if he can also stay healthy and have longevity. That's still only 5 proven elite players stemming from a major SEC program. S-A-D.

I love Louis Oliver but besides his 102 yard int return against Buffalo, he was not a great safety.
Percy Harvin is an average gamebreaker and WR.
Brandon Spikes is the snail trail slow and is just serviceable on the NFL's worst defense.
Aaron Hernandez plays in Gronk's shadow.
Joe Haden has potential to be very good but hasn't played long enough to prove it.
Chris Collinsworthless... HAHAHAHAHA
Tebow, let's get real people.
Ahmad Black had a mere 3 tackles on an atrocious Buc defense.
Mike Pouncey was a waste of a 1st round pick.

If I've forgotten anyone else it's because, well, they're forgettable and didn't leave a significant impact on the NFL game.

If you're interested in seeing how a real college program runs the NFL look no further...

More speculation from the Sun Sentinel...Just like Omar predicting (speculating) that Zimmer had the job.

We can do better than Reggie Nelson in the draft.

Looking at the draft prospects, we probably couldn't. Nelson was awful in Jacksonville, but he was really good this year in Cinci. Cinci is trying to lock him up as we speak, so that should tell you something I suppose

I dont like Nelson. I do believe we need a coverage safety, but I do also want him to be able to tackle. Nelson tackles like Sean Smith and 2 of them in secondary..................

top 2011 100 list. lol, yes donovan mcnabb was better than maurkice pouncey, tebow, hernandez, harvin, haden. smh

After they've been in the NFL for a few years I don't think it matters if they are Gators, Canes or from North West Alaska State.

Would be nice to restructure Bell and bring in Nelson. He is a way better FS than anything we have on the roster now, wouldnt be too expensive and has exp with our DC. This kid was a beast in UF lets see how he pans out!

He isn't an upgrade for Bell, he would play FS and is an upgrade over Jones and Clemons. I personally would ask Bell to restructure and let he and Nelson start. Give Jones and Clemons the boot.

Jones had good ball skills coming out of college and had the look of a SS. he WILL get his shot at playing SS. We need to either cut or restructure bell to get some $$$$ for FA. I can see us signing Nelson and having Jones and Culver compete for starting SS duties. we should invest in a mid round draft pick at safety as well. Bell wa good in run support, but i can seeJones being a similar player, but ten times cheaper and quicker.

Boy that reply took a lots of thought,

Emmit Smith
Joe Haden
The Pounceys
Ike Hilliard

these guys were ok don't you think?

I think our secondary would be much better going in with that next season. Jones can cover way better than Bell I think, and since the beginning of the season when he was abysmal, he really played a lot better than second half.

Yeah Bell is getting old maybe Jones at SS would help him progress. Right now I do know one thing we need help for two reasons:

1) The Free Safety play was not acceptable
2) The Strong Safety is old

Nelson takes care of number one presuming he plays like he did the past couple of seasons. Bell would need to be restructured in order to stay, now way you put him back there with his current salary numbers this season. I would like to see them re-work Bells contract and go after a FS in the open marker or draft one. This lets you address SS next off season and gives you flexibility to see if Jones/Clemons can turn into a suitable replacement for Bell.
