Dolphins prepare to dump vets

thanks. james move wans't too surprising if it happens. apparenlty we want to be big players but i dont see where this can be?

I say clements to washington, Deilman or stanbach to miami, hopefully the FB to miami (ravens), but who else? stallworth? doubt it, wants too much, petitguout (SP)? who knows, his penalties are a killer and age as well. I dont see anythign else we can be serious for unless its for goodman type players...average playres taht are solid.

Sounds good to me, time to shake things up.

I really hope we work something out w/Kevin Carter. He was a BIG reason why our D was good last year. It all starts at the front on both sides of the ball. Not many players can replace him. Joey, Welker, D Jones and Mare are all replaceable.

Jeno could kiss his but goodbye if he doesnt resructure. He has been mediocre at best, and was always too overpriced. Mare, Goodbye. Chambers should restructure as well and Mcmichael too... IF not I wouldnt mind trading them I swear..... We could aquire some extra picks and really build this team threw the Draft.... Then is Quinn and Brown are not their at 9 trade down and Draft a guy like Olsen, who would look real nice in a Miami Uniform....

Im sick of all these over price player we have on offense, that every year is gonna be their break out year. Jeno, Chambers, Mcmichael can all get traded or cut if they dont restructure for all i care....

I'm not really sure if it would work out but from what we've seen from Matt Roth he is a very good backup for JT. Is there any way he could swap down to the other end of the line to replace Kevin Carter? I'm not really sure of the different physical needs for the different end positions and not sure if Roth has whats needed but just wondering.. Seems like Roth is good talent that's never really going to see any time unless (heaven forbid) JT gets hurt. Thoughts?

he already replaces carter not JT. bowens has JT's spot.

honestly, i do agree to a ponit. I mean look at RB, what takes a RB to be good? an o line, we dont have an OLINE but he still plays very well. especially for a 1 and 2 year appearance for a youngster. but mcmike and CC have problems? jeno? c'mon they get paid close to top tier money. especially our TE and Chambers.

You are correct, Matt Roth backs up Kevin Carter and would likely be inserted into the starting lineup if/when (I think its looking more and more likely that it will be when) Carter is released. In fact, I remember reading an article earlier in the offseason with Kevin saying he would not necessarily take a pay cut, but would be willing to restructure. Based on reports though, it doesnt appear to be that easy, as if it were it would already be done. While KC was a nice player for us the last two years and a real class act, his salary is far too high and Roth is ready to step in. This seems like an easy one to me. There is no way Kevin Carter was the key to our D last season- JT, Vonnie and even Truck outplayed him on the defensive line. No doubt about it. That being said, I understand his perspective, as he should get a nice deal on the open market with most of the upper-level DE UFAs being franchised.

As for this article, did anybody else find it somewhat contradictory? First it says we have only 13.1 million in cap room, and not enough to be "major players", but then it goes on to say we could sign two high-priced guys. I dont know about some of you, but I would be ecstatic if we could sign two high-priced guys- one lineman (Dielman, Steinbach) and one defensive player (either LB or DB). With Harrington, Anderson, McKinney, potentially Carter, Mare and Jeno being released, our cap number is actually looking to be very solid. We should be in the top 10 and maybe even the top 6 or so when these roster moves occur. That should be plenty to work with. And yes, I realize there are many UFAs from this year's team, but most, if not all, are relatively minor guys whose contracts will be very reasonable. All in all, I am liking the shape we are in heading into free agency. Give me Dielman or Steinbach and Thomas or Clements, and I will be a happy man.

"Miami could have as many as 20 new faces on the roster next seasonbut does not have the money to be a major player in the current free-agent market."

Wow! Sounds like we are rebuilding.

Good read, thanks!

I read somewhere that our biggest competition for Dielman is Seattle who is prepared to throw a ton of money at him, somrewhere in the $6.5m a year range to replace Steve Hutchinson who they lost to Minnesota last year. Hopefully, we'll be prepared to step up and get this guy, I think it'd be worth it to invest in our O-line and this guy is a proven commodity with the current offensive coaching staff...
