Dolphins promote Duarte/activate Vigil

We have activated LB Zach Vigil off the Reserve/NFI list and promoted TE Thomas Duarte from the practice squad to the active roster.
 
I thought they had said Duarte wasn't ready.

Sims isn't healthy and they finally gave up on Cameron coming back. I think it was a need
 
So we'll see if Duarte can become a seam threat .... I cannot see him being a run blocker, pass protector or red zone threat, so basically he will be fighting with Jarvis Landry and Jakeem Grant for playing time as a middle of the field Slot WR/Move TE. Good luck.

I'm actually more interested in seeing what's going on with Vigil. I'm very happy with Kiko Alonso and pleasantly surprised with Donald Butler ... for now. But Kiko is always a health risk and Butler is always a motivation risk, and we have nothing behind them. Jenkins simply isn't good enough and Misi simply isn't healthy enough. We are going to need LB's later this season, and we definitely need more next year.
 
Both are being pulled up for special teams. Give other players a break. Sims is really a blocking tight end. So Duarte is NOT a Sims replacement - Young coming in as a 6th offensive lineman is that player - Duarte is like a large wide receiver if he is going to be used at all on offense...
Duarte could be used maybe once or twice in 4 receiver packages to create mismatches - but they need his athleticism on special teams.
 
Clyde Christianson said a couple weeks ago that Duarte is not ready for the 53 man roster and that this needs to be a redshirt year for him.

Yes! I think this kid can create some mismatches and force the LBs to stay honest!

Any chance Duarte can be our Seam Threat? That would be 1 less need for the draft
 
Weird, I almost posted a thread this morning wondering why we weren't using this kid! I had to look at the roster to see he was on the PS. He looked really good in preseason! That's cool!
 
Maybe on 3rd down, Kenny Stills will come off the field, Jarvis Landry will move outside, and Thomas Duarte will be the slot receiver.

WR: DeVante Parker

WR: Jarvis Landry

Slot: Thomas Duarte
 
I guess I'm out of the loop on Vigil. Can someone fill me in?
