Dolphins promote John Benton to O-line coach

nice...helps me id what we are looking for oline wise with draft prospects...

you can have the finest chefs in the world running the kitchen but if they get there and the cupboards are bare, no ingredients, it doesnt matter.

and that is the position the last o-line coach was in. he had nothing but one player [pouncy] coming in and the same player going out. and like philbin, he was the vicitim of jeff irelands horrid management and selection of talent. the last draft being maybe the worst in nfl history where ONE drafted player had any significant playing time due to previous injury BEFORE being drafted or just not good enough to be on the field.

no rb's.

and a qb who couldnt hit the best and most important free agent we brought in. it was like being handed a new hemi challenger but no car keys!!

it's about talent and we go NOWHERE, NO IMPROVEMENT if we dont upgrade the talent in the o-line and secondary [grimes the only real deal]. AND, tannehill MUST up his game or these new shiney "upgrades" at coach wont make one bit of difference.

Good to have a VG OL coach in place of HC's who think they are. Was Hudson the last one we had? He was as good as it gets.

You going to share on what that is? Or will you include this in your OL review for the draft - when's it coming out by the way, unless it has already in which case... oops.

i have the first 3 rounds write up completed...i'm working the day 3 guys now...likely out by end of next weekish...i saw what you had said about what you want them to do with the guards...more power players etc to handle the interior jets and buffalo fronts...and i can't say i blame you for it...but i just don't think that's in the cards with benton...i think it's more move and foot athletes

my draft targets board will reflect it

Benton news was expected, I am intrigued by the hiring of Bicknell as the assistant offensive line coach. I remember when the Steelers fired him in January, a lot of Pittsburgh fans and members of the local media were scratching their heads and were shocked.

Well they had the chance to get Mike Munchak for one, but Bicknell also had issues in Pittsburgh. Some on him, some not

Ok cool, good stuff and look forward to seeing it.

I hear you on the move and foot and I'm a ZBS guy all the way, I just get nervous if we go with the prototype ZBS guy they may not hold up well against the Bills/Jets front and in particular with the pass blocking. But I'm open to being wrong on this :)
