"To infinity and beyond," said Rosen with a smile. "Diminishing marginal returns a little bit. A lot of improvement off the bat and as time goes on, maybe a little less over time. As long as it's some improvement I'm good with it. Constant upward momentum is better than a roller-coaster."

The kid has been on a roller coaster his entire college and pro career. Its got to get old having to learn new verbiage every year.

Rosenhaus says he thinks Rosen will get the start..

I would wait til after the bye, but if he does, let’s get it son!!!!

Huh. Did not expect to hear that. I'd imagine this is Flores' decision to include Grier in the conversation. The guy is their "top" talent evaluator, so it makes sense to hear a lot of input from him when making that decision. At the end of the day, still a Flores call though.

I would think the OC should have the biggest input on Flores decision. Sounds like the decision will be about future logistics rather than who's the better player.

Yea I do believe some future logistics makes sense here. They invested a 2 and while coach Flo will scream until the cows come home that he wants to do everything to win every game, it makes a lot of sense to ensure you are getting a clear read on Josh Rosen and putting him in a good spot to get that read. He has seemed to take everything this coaching staff is teaching him and running with it . . . Don’t need to interrupt that progress because an inexperienced offensive line starting 2 rookie guards and a guard and right tackle’s clothing gets beat up by those first 4 physical teams.

I mean I believe its pretty clear who the better player is and if they start him week 1, I gotta trust its the right move . . . But I am ok not seeing him until after the bye as well, or earlier if Fitz’s play is just straight underwhelming.

At this point I think it's "Rosen has won the competition to start" vs "Will we do Josh irreparable harm by sacrificing him to the Ravens' D behind this line". I think it's okay to get the GMs take on that...

Hmm...That doesn't exactly make me feel all excited inside.

I am fine with Grier having huge full control and final say on who they bring or pickup to play for Miami, but no way should a GM have control over a HC on who should start...especially QB.

I think if I was king... it would be game 5... after the bye and against the redskins.

We’re not a playoff team yet... I’d give Fitzpatrick that...and save Rosen from the gauntlet of the first 4 games.

I really hope Fitzpatrick will hang around a couple more and mentor...hard not to like him.

How the hell does Grier end up having a say in who starts at QB?

It certainly isn't something that normally happens, but Flores is a rookie HC, and Grier does have a need to know where Rosen is, at some point this year. If not game 1, it needs to be early in the year. Future plans depend upon it.

That being said, I have to believe Flores has final say, as long as he has valid reasons.

Whether his reasons are "valid" is between him, Grier, and most likely O'shea.

Guys... It is by all parties concerned termed a "collaboration."

Beyond that -- use you imagination.

Do you REALLY see Grier telling Flores WHO to start week 1?

That's silly. But it's 100% believable that Flores wants Grier's take -- as it pertains to

issues etc. that transcend 1 football game. And... It's just Flores reaffirming the

total TEAM collective -- top to bottom in the org.

My .02.
