Latest review of the critical Dolphins-Ravens matchup is up at Football Central.

Chasing the postseason in the AFC’s crowded 7-5 corridor, the Miami Dolphins presently hold the slimmest of tiebreaker margins and would be the 6th and final team to qualify for the NFL playoffs if the season ended today. With four games remaining and six teams vying for one spot, every game will be treated as a must-win by these teams.
The Dolphins are coming off an ugly 16-13 victory against the Jets where they made just enough plays to grit out a division road win. Baltimore is coming off a bitter 34-33 defeat at home against the Chargers, who outscored the Ravens 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Why is it 6 teams vying for 1 spot? Isn't it 7 teams vying for 2 spots? They are counting SD as in already? I think SD doesn't win another game

It could be seen as that way, but SD currently has a one game lead over the remaining 7-5 teams. No one is technically "in" yet.

Ah it's just the damn media. The other night on NFL Live, they were showing the AFC WC picture and they had the Ravens currently in the 6th seed at 8-5..........

A couple of more weeks and the picture will get more clear.

Something tells me the Pats have something to say about that one game lead by SD.

:chuckle:

Yea...with no chance miami would win.....then they showed how the seeding changed if the bills upset denver!

I just don't understand how they could mess that up. Giving the Ravens 1 more win than they have, putting them in the 6th seed and no even consider the game at all. ESPN is insanely terrible. I wasn't even watching but flipping through channels and stopped when I saw the AFC WC being discussed. I wish I had kept flipping.

Good breakdown here.

This quote from the article pretty much sums up how good numbers can be turned bad by PFF:

Interestingly, Lamar Miller has been slightly more valuable this season than Forsett. Miller has been worth 185 DYAR and 19.4% DVOA**, which would suggest that while his rushing stats may trail Forsett’s and have been down over the last few weeks, Miller has actually been performing very well against some difficult matchups.

I am not anti-Miller but I don't think anyone who has watched the Ravens and the Dolphins would think that Forsett hasn't been more valuable.

San Diego has a pretty hard remaining schedule. They act like their playoff slot is edged in stone.
