Dolphins reaching out to Zach Streif

When you get paid you are also taking care of your family long term so I think that consideration will hold more value then NO location.

I'm not doing the Eric Winston dance a third time....gimme Ryan Harris on the cheap if we can't snag Strief and draft his replacement.

I was under the impression he was little better than Clabo last year

would you want to come to a team whose fans are full of hate for the team? we have a new direction. a new attitude in the front office. lets all ride it untill it cant be rode instead of hating on it all before it gets off the ground.

I wrote a long piece about this a month after I went to the Ravens game. WE, the fans, are part of the solution. I said we needed ownership and management to start at the grass roots level. A Howard Schnellenberger who galvanizes everyone and everything Dolphins.

When I was at the game (my first home game), the place literally felt like a cold, damp, lifeless building where people just so happened to be watching a couple of guys who decided to play football that day. The Ravens's were nearly a larger presence (in support) than our team.

I had the privilege of sitting in a seat of a family of season ticket holders who came over from the Orange Bowl days. Talking to them was a nice experience. You could hear the sadness in their reflection back to the glory days compared to now. Meanwhile, we were also surrounded by a lot of people who were more interested in being seen criticizing than actually supporting their team. I was critical of Ross then. I was critical of his not using our living legends as a daily resource and how we seem so disconnected from our past. We do not embrace it. Our younger fans know very little about it.

The players on the field are so disconnected from the fans. The stadium is not a very welcoming experience. But you can tell the structure could facilitate it. It literally felt like "Major League" in many respects. Ownership and Management distancing themselves from the team and watching it like it's a toy to pass the time.

Then Ross announces recently he's investing his own money to renovate this stadium. THAT is a GIANT leap from where we have been. This move must be rewarded by the fans. Ross bought the team, but now he's taking ownership in it.

It doesn't matter if you like the coach. It doesn't matter if you like the GM or the FO. This is OUR team. The only Miami Dolphins on the planet.

It's time for us to take ownership, as well.

nice!!!

Any issue with Clabo starting again? He seemed to play better the second half and maybe Benton can work his magic

Pro football Focus rated Clabo 45th out of 76 offensive tackles
McKINNIE came in at 65th out of 76 offensive tackles

I'm 42 years old and reading this makes me sad. I grew up watching Marino and the mark's brothers. It would be a life long dream to be able to watch a dolphins game in Miami. I don't understand how the fans down there don't support the team? Sad.

yes. and i get your meaning on that. it sucks we would have to beg anyone. there was a time if we wanted a free agent, we got them!!

but for those who are confused, the saints are a TOP NOTCH, REAL DEAL SUPERBOWL CONTENDER WITH A BIG TIME QB AND A BIG TIME F/O WHO HAS KEPT THEM STOCKED WITH GOOD TALENT FOR YEARS!!

now the dolphins. we are just the opposite. at least the last 10 years anyways. and i believe hickey will do wonders for us in the long run, but, his thing hasnt even started yet. this team is almost void of any real talent [3 guys dont make it] an iffy qb who has proved NOTHING and a franchise that is basically lost to time. the MAJORITY of the boards are made up of guys from 16 to 30 and our glory days are not even a whisper to them. there just names, old stories. dan marino is just a name. don shula? the steak house dude? the marx brothers, those silent movie guys?

now think of all these young guys, 22-30 year olds out there in free agency. thats all they know about this team. dan marino, the tv guy and shula the steak house dude. just as otto graham and the 50's packers and crazy leggs hirsch were to me in the early 70's. names i had heard about but never saw play other than an old clip or two or heard older guys talk about in my dads garage.

we havnt been to a superbowl since 1884 and havnt won one since 1973!! our last playoff spot was a fluke that turned into a drubbing by the ravens. were a small dot in nfl history. i dont like it, but, those are the facts. and these kids want to play for winners, or the latest, hot, this is the place to be team like the browns are right now. i know there is some doom and gloom on hickeys inaugural f/a run right now but you cant sign guys who dont want to come here! and come on, if you were playing right now, in your prime, are you signing with the broncos or pats or the miami dolphins?

you cant blame them. i dont.

and zach streif is no different. i am sure he would like to go back to his all world team and he is waiting to see if there is any room left for him. i would to.

we have a LONG way to go folks before this team is resurrected. and it doesnt help when we get new personel like hickey in here and 15 threads on our forum are dedicated to hating him being here.

if the fans are bad mouthing everything here and any changes we make, thats not a big attraction for free agents. and the f/a's DO look at teams forums when there looking for a new team. and laying down a nuclear bomb on our new gm BEFORE he even does one thing here hurts us, it doesnt make us attractive at all. all the losing, all the bad vibe with martin and the stench around the nfl players with ireland and his antics and this is how we greet his replacement? how do we convince players to come here when the fans think we are trash? when were hating on guys who havnt even done a thing, havnt even loaded a pen and pencil into their office yet?

and a long time fins beat writer telling our new o-t to enjoy it because the fans will be hating him shortly.

when you have this kind of fan base and strife and bickering and hate and a team that hasnt won a thing in decades, you dont get choice free agents. you get guys who are wanting their last big pay day or guys who are about the money first and winning second. and every once in a while one falls through the cracks like starks did and now earl mitchell. hungry, young up and comers. but thats RARE in free agency.

and there are other reasons a f/a wont play for a team. maybe the wife says NO, NO WAY to a city or state? player wants to stay on the west coast or east coast by his family. its not always the gm dropped the ball or the owner wouldnt shell out. and you can bet some of the f/a's hickey has had on his radar wouldnt come because of some of those things. yeah, it sux when we see all these cool players fall of the board to other teams, winning teams, but as i said, its not always the gm or owners fault we didnt get a certain player.

winning will fix all this. we need a buzz to start with our team and the best way to get it going is WITH US! its time to create a positive buzz [not to be confused with blind homerism]. we have a new gm, a new direction, a man known for his ability to identify talent, a man everyone has liked to work with over his 18 year nfl career. lets get a buzz going and get out of this hate vibe/stupor were in.

would you want to come to a team whose fans are full of hate for the team? we have a new direction. a new attitude in the front office. lets all ride it untill it cant be rode instead of hating on it all before it gets off the ground.

He was at a convention and unable to visit..thus why it'll need to play out. However, his #1 choice was going back to NO. Lets avoid the nobody wants to visit narrative

Give me a ****ing break. A convention is more important than his livelihood? Just imagine if someone was to speak loudly to him? Maybe he leaves and cries for mommy.

:err: yes he could go home and show mummy his superbowl ring

Every day I'm checking in to see if we've landed Streif. Should the Dolphins land him (and at least one good guard), we'll have a lot of flexibility going into the draft.

Time to move on from Streif, Hoops will be happy.

Zach Strief, the top remaining free agent RT, informed the Dolphins that he has decided not to do a visit with them; no explanation given.
