People stop freaking out with all the FO sucks anddoesn't know what it's doing stuff. Philbin and staff have a plan and it willall come together very soon. Just wait and relax. Let’s look at the big picturean ignore all the rumors and media speculation. Here is what I think is goingon:

1. Dolphins only wanted Payton if he fell into our laps. That explains why Rossnever met with him and only Philbin and misc staff members went out to him.Getting Payton was never the big plan for Miami and rightfully so. You don'tbuild a team by spending mad money on a player only has 3 years tops left toplay and for all we know might not even be ready to play at all. Dolphins took a look and didn’t getlucky. No big deal here. If the FO didn’t even try to get Manning canyou imagine the uproar among the fan base? At least they can say they tried. You also don't handcuff a new coach with aplayer who would want to control the offense himself. Philbins future as a headcoach lives and dies with how things turn out for him in Miiami.

2. Not aggressively pursuing Matt Flynn should tell us something. (Flynn is not better than any other optionswe have right now (Matt Moore or draft prospect) If Philbin thought that Flynnwas the next best thing to sliced cheese he would already have had a nicecontract to mull over. We would nottaking any chances on losing him in FA. If Flynn is brought in it is to compete for a job and not to be declaredthe starter right from the gate. The samegoes for Alex Smith if he comes in it’s for an open competition.

So what does all this mean? It means that Miami is comfortable with MattMoore to Start, comfortable with a QB competition between available FA, orcomfortable with a potential draft prospect. The fact we are not rushing in like a chickenwith it’s head cut off to sign a QB tellsme Miami does not see a great improvement over Matt Moore available right nowand or has had their man picked out via the draft. I glad we are taking our time and beingdiligent. Miami’s problems are not aquick fix. Take your time and do it right.

"please ignore the rumor and speculation, here is my speculation"

Lol

I think miami drafts tannehill or weeden, picks up flynn or smith, keeps matt moore. And we have the best training camp battle in years to get our starter. May the best man win. Give philbin a chance witha qb to hang his hat on.

Unless, of course, Ireland is the ego-tripping a-hole who thinks he's smarter than everyone else that people think he is, and he is in the process of outsmarting himself. Playing with limited cap room and trying to pay as little as possible is one thing. Coming up empty is quite another.

Ross was present and did meet with Manning. But good post either way.

I have been waiting very patiently for forty years.....and as far as the QB position goes, I have been waiting for another franchise QB since Marino retired, and none of the guys we have brought in have even been 60% of what Marino was. Why are things going to change with the moron (Ireland) we now have running things?

Good post. After all this nonsense is said and done, Moore played solid (outside of the fumbles) last year. Peyton didn't want to be here and we had no shot at RGIII or Luck unless we traded the house.

Let Moore start day one, we bring in another pass rusher opposite Wake, draft some day one ready WR's, and solidify our safety play and we can compete. Our "franchise" QB can't be bought this year. I like Weeden but he's old as hell. As far as any other QB in this draft, only time will tell.

That was hysterical...Then he says there is a plan...its either that Miami is comfortable with Moore, comfortable with Flynn, or comfortable with drafting someone....hahaha....we'll no sh*t........

the team who could end up empty might be 49rs

No offense to my FH brethren but I am not sure why its difficult for some of you to understand exactly what Moore is. He is an average QB with a very low ceiling. Yes he is like every other QB we have had around here the last few years not named Pennington, Does well some game does pretty bad others. Thats what an average QB does. Good enough to be average but not good enough to be elite or consistent. The best Moore can ever be is average to maybe good...

If this team ever wants to crawl out of the basement of the NFL teams then we need to move away from these average type QB's like Moore.

So the question comes down to which QB's that are still available via Free Agency or the Draft do the Fins believe have the best potential to be Elite. Is it Flynn, Smith, Tannenhill or Weeden.

Yes you can reach and still fail with one of these but in my book,I rather reach and fail with a QB who had potential to be Great then Continue to fail with QB's who only have the potential to be average or just good at best.

I really like the potential of Kirk Cousins and Brandon Weeden. Draft one of those guys in the 2nd to compete with Moore. Kirk Cousins had an awesome pro-day. He essentially ran the whole thing himself. Brandon Weeden beat every single top rated QB in this year's draft (plus Barkley and Jones)...that tells you something.

I agree to an extent, Fins need to make a decision which QB they want and better go after him with the 1st Pic. I dont care if its at 8 or not. There is no such thing as overdrafting or overpaying for a franchise QB. Our team sucks so bad that we can not afford to take any Chances when it comes to grabbing our QB. Find a QB you like, fall in love and draft him quick and early.
