▪ We hear the Dolphins were disappointed when the Ravens selected cornerback Anthony Averett 118th overall, before Miami picked tight end Durham Smythe 123rd. The Dolphins really like Averett, and as they told Charley Casserly, they considered cornerback a need.

They also liked BYU linebacker Fred Warner, who went to the 49ers three spots before Miami picked Baker in the third round.

In the third round, I was hoping Fred Warner would be available too. I'm surprised to hear they considered CB a need in the fourth round. I like Averett, he is going to be a good CB.

So that explains Smyth being picked a bit early imo. I assume they had no trade options at that pick as at that spot with my 20 20 vision after the draft I felt we could have traded back and gotten Symth in the 5 th round.

I was thinking the same thing, no way anyone else was drafting a slow blocking TE before the 5th.

I try to stay positive, but also frustrating it seems like they "just" missed on guys like 3x this draft. QB, LB, CB, and probably a higher rated TE. There were a lot of decent DT's available late in the draft, would have rather seen them take one that any of our other late picks.

There were alot of people who didn't want us to trade up but if that meant missing out on guys we coveted and over drafting guys, I would've preferred to see them wheel and deal to get who they wanted.

All teams had players they 'just missed.' That's the draft

T-Bum is waiting to say “told you so” when those guys turn into studs.

so our guys we wanted did not drop to us but a QB did and we reach for someone else?....meh FO should have been more flexable or open minded in this draft.

I am just never a fan of DBs who lock onto the target and never flip to the QB and never pick up the ball, or even try to. To me Averett would of been a miss pick. I like Warner. But to me Baker adds more potential and they are similar players currently. Happy with Baker.

Baker really needs to contribute for this to be a good draft.

They liked Fred Warner. I don't think they liked Fred Warner over Jerome Baker.

This. It's interesting to speculate about who would have taken who, but that's all it is, speculation. I'm happy with our draft and looking forward to seeing the young guys contribute.
