Dolphins Release Patterson...

wouldnt shock me if we made a play at another big name corner...like someone no ones talking about with us...i cant imagine they feel good depending on oft injured jamar taylor and pillow soft will davis...i'm sure they are weighing it heavily with how far they will go for carroll

but it won't matter what we do if they don't shore up defensive tackle and this soft run defense...i dont see where any lb add in free agency does us any good with what's out there...
 
They had to do this today for a specific reason in mind no? Unless they are being overly fair to Patterson and letting him go now which is his best chance to catch on with other teams.

Better LB play in 2014 and Jones will be fine. He was down in the box more than he was not to give run support.

Cutting Patterson is a sound business decision. Chances of him coming back cheaper would be EXCELLENT! And if not, that's okay too, he just wasn't worth the risk at his current price tag.

Signing Brandon Albert to the amount of money he wants scares me. I almost feel more comfortable spending in the $7mil/year range for two top end guards and getting some solid T's from the second tier guys... I'd rather build inside-out. I also wish we didn't have so much tied up in Reshad Jones who had no business getting an extension last off season (which a few of us were terrified of back then, as well). Ah well, can't win em all.
 
Sad to see Patterson go, he was great when he was healthy last season. Was kind of hoping they would have brought him back, and maybe they will later at a cheaper price. Wonder if they are targeting someone else in free agency or if they believe Jamar Taylor is ready to make the jump into the starting lineup.

Salary cap wise this was a move that brings a lot more room. Tomorrow should be fun.

Do you really believe that? Also, do you realize that his entire time as a Dolphins looked more like last season than the one good season he had? IMO, if he has another season similiar to this previous one then it's a wrap.
 
Bad move. We didn't have to cut him now. He has no bonuses due, and no guarantees. We could have at least brought him to camp and cut him if and when we needed cap space. Right now we have no legit CB2.
