Dolphins Release Patterson...

A good business move. Now step it up, rookies. Does this increase chances of Carrol's return to Miami or has that ship sailed?

Miami told him to shop around and come back. They want a chance to match if the money is right. They're basically letting the market set his value.

Captain from Panthers.

that would be horrible if for anything other than the slot...

no....not trading assets...maybe another stop gap veteran though...i doubt they want to sink high end money over long term in a young guy when they have taylor and davis to see how they develop...a stop gap is possible i'd say though

"Profootballtalk reports free agent Vontae Davis is expected to sign a contract on Tuesday, but "not with the Colts."
Reporter Mike Florio does allow that it's "not over yet, though." Either way, it directly contradicts CBS' Sunday report that Davis was "nearing a deal" with the Colts, and that there was "every expectation" an accord would be hammered out by Monday. One of the market's top free agents, Davis should have a new deal/home by tomorrow evening."

I will let you jump to your own conclusions...

could also see us resign patterson after he sees that his market is very low due to not playing...like half that $5.3 mil possible...and protect ourselves in the event he is cut in camp

I'm goodwith the move. He's always hurt. I'm sure tey have a plan for that money.
Ozzy rules!!

Patterson was damn good when healthy. He just can't stay healthy, and at this point that's a pretty clear trend.

Mixed feelings on this. I wish we had been able to find a way to keep him at a reduced salary.

Hope we can get him back cheap, but unfortunately for Dimitri he's only worth cheap money with his injury history. Groin injuries are so problematic too, there's a good chance he comes back to us if we want a cheap deal.

We'll probably be signing a corner now who isn't Nolan Carroll. Thoughts on candidates?

They better have done this with something else in mind! There was no rush to do this unless there is soemthing else going on for tom? putting alot of confidence in the rookie CB"s especially with Nolan leaving.

They wouldn't just cut the guy without having an idea how to replace him.

The most likely scenario is that Taylor will be starting across from Grimes. Our D is going to look ALOT different next year

For some reason I think it's the Patriots stealing him away from the Colts.

Patterson indeed was a good CB when he was on the field. That was the problem though...he couldn't stay on the field! I too am wondering if they try to bring him back later at a lower cost.

Well, it looks like tomorrow's gonna be a fun day! Like hoops said, don't be afraid to spend but spend wisely!

It is BS is they award Taylor the spot across from Grimes. He has done nothing to earn it. He should have to work his way through nickel and dime jobs before becoming a starter.
