Interesting article.

"Weak offensive lines were a big reason those '02-'07 teams didn't win as much as the 2008 Dolphins. For too long the Dolphins skimped on the line while fans slobbered over glitzy names at quarterback and wide receiver that had no chance to succeed due to the leaky line."

"Maybe the Dolphins overpaid for Carey and Grove but that's what you must do in free agency to fill vital needs. The Parcells/Stephen Ross Dolphins understand a good offensive line fits that bill, so they put up the cash.

That may not be as exciting as debating exactly when Chad Henne should take over for the most efficient passer the Miami Dolphins have had in years, but it's at least as important to the team's present and future."

I still don't get why we didn't sign Brown if they were willing to overpay for the line. But they know what they're doing, so..

Are you sure they are done building the OL. I'm still hoping against hope that they find a road grading nasty RT so good that they have to move Carey to OG.

How about Phil Loadholt and Joel Bell in this years draft. How about signing Orlando Pace to play RT.

There are many who think Carey can be an all-pro OG.

The way to victory in the AFC east is ball control and pass rush. That is how you beat the cheaters.

I am now exceedingly educated thanks to this information, thank you.

your welcome....

Come on 40 million on a Center....
Grove contract only guaranteed 14 million.

Reports are coming out, Grove went one on one over 65 %
of the time.Brown % of 1 on 1 was much less then Grove...

What I really dont understand is the fact that we have so many guys on the O-Line that are injury prone including Grove that we just overpaid for, then we trade away a little bit of depth that we had for 7th round camp fodder that will be cut before the season begins. I realize that we got to trade up our 4th rounder also, but I dont care what anybody says we gave up a freaking 2 year starter that did pretty well basically for nothing. The worst move of the Parcells era IMO.

I think we have our offensive line:
the Orca-5, the Miami KillerWhales will be the Hogs of yesteryear & celebrated throughout the NFL.

and excellent depth: Alleman, Murphy(admittedly a project, but the FrontOffice continues their praise & encouragement), Joe Burger,
Ndukwe, Garner & Frye.
1) Carey is much underrated. the PancakeMonster is the real deal & can start LT if ever needed. our BookEnds are the best in the NFL.
2) I expect them to go after a Center in the draft.
3) this is what these guys do best: build the trenches. not to worry.

I like Samson
But Samson had loss his starting position
and the FO deem SS unusable

un·us·a·ble (n-yz-bl)
adj.
1. That cannot be used: unusable byproducts.
2. Not fit for use: unusable files on corrupted disks

Why couldn't you just say that the first time? See I didn't know the contracts were THAT different in money

I think it's a lock that they are going to draft another interior OL in the first four rounds. Either that new guy or one of our current OGs will have to have the ability to slide over to C if something happens to Grove and Berger can't handle it. It goes without saying that whoever it is can't suck.

the team’s latest acquisition notched a POA winning percentage of 90.6% while allowing backs to gain 6.2 yards per attempt behind his blocks. And Grove didn’t need a lot of help either. The ex Raider went one on one with defenders 67.5% of the time in 2008, far more frequently then either Matt Birk (39.9%) or Jason Brown (60.3%)."

Signed a five-year, $37.5 million contract. The deal contains $20 million guaranteed, including an $11 million signing bonus and the base salaries in years one and two. Brown's contract will void after the 2012 season if he reaches incentives based on wins and performance. The Rams can also "buy back" the year by adding $2.3 million to Brown's 2013 base salary. 2009: $4 million, 2010: $5 million, 2011: $4 million, 2012: $5 million, 2013: $6.2 million, 2014: Free Agent. Cap charge: $6.2 million

all I've got to say:
the Orca-5, the Miami KillerWhales will be the Hogs of yesteryear, today, and celebrated throughout the NFL.
