Dolphins rookies Xavien Howard, Kenyan Drake set to debut Thursday vs. Titans

Miami Dolphins rookie cornerback Xavien Howard, the second-round pick from Baylor, and rookie running back Kenyan Drake, the third-round pick from Alabama, are likely to make their preseason debuts Thursday against the Tennessee Titans.

"We're going to play them both," coach Adam Gase said Sunday. "And really right now we're going to go through the next couple of days of practice just to kind ... of see where they're at from a conditioning standpoint. I think they're in good shape, but obviously it's not dynamic football shape right now."

In terms of chances to get hurt I'm not sure it matters in a position like CB but I am not completely understanding what the benefits compared to the risks are in bringing in Drake with the second/third team OL blocking for him.

I'm looking forward to seeing these two guys. These are obviously a couple of high picks with potential.

It will bring some excitement to the last preseason game. Granted, I would like to watch every snap of the season and preseason, but that 4th game of the preseason, particularly the second half, can be brutal and pointless to watch.

They both need work, very interested in how Howard looks, could be a large factor in how well we do this season.

Wouldn't it be nice if Howard is as advertised. Play well Thu, and make it a no doubter as to who starts opposite Maxwell. Not asking for too much, right?
