Dolphins Running Back History
2005-Ronnie Brown
907 Yards, 4tds
Many great years ahead for this potentially great running back. Can block, can catch like a WR. Can break 8 tackles in one play, a true stud.
2004-Sammy Morris
523 Yards, 6tds
A great special teams player and a very good situational player but wasn’t cut out for the full load of an NFL running back. I hope he is resigned.
2003-Ricky Williams
1372 Yards, 9tds
Throughout the 2003 season it looked as though Ricky was giving a half A** effort. Still half of what Ricky brings is twice what most other backs have.
2002-Ricky Williams
1853 Yards, 16tds
Ricky at his best. The most talented back in the league when he wants to be. NO other back has the power, quickness and speed that Ricky does. Not even today. Rickys football speed is better than Lt, R.Brown, Edge, S.Alexander, L.Johnson. No doubt. Dominated the 03 season with a sub par o-line and no quarterback.
2001- Lamar Smith
968 Yards, 6tds
A warrior who gave it his all every play. Not very talented though and probably should have never been a starter in the NFL.
2000-Lamar Smith
1139 Yards, 14tds
Ran Hard all year, wowed Dolphin fans in a very memorable playoff win against the Colts. Without Lamar the Dolphins would have been a 8-8 team instead of a 11-5 team. How Wanny got 11 wins with this offense I’ll never know.
1999- James Johnson
558 Yards. 4tds
Jimmie Johnson searching for some talent at running back reached in the Draft for James. An upright runner who was not fast or quick enough for the NFL.
1998-Karim Abdul Jabbar
960 Yards, 6tds
John Avery
503 Yards, 2tds
Jabbar was a very average back with average speed and size. He was given every opportunity to become a star and never made it beyond average. Avery, a first round draft pick with a ton of speed, not a complete back though and didn’t give his all on every play.
