Dolphins | Saban Not Thinking About QB
Sat, 22 Oct 2005 09:28:10 -0700

MiamiDolphins.com reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl">Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban hasn't thought about who will start at quarterback for the team Week 8. QB Gus Frerotte struggled again and QB Sage Rosenfels replaced him in the fourth quarter of the Week 7 game. Saban said, "I'm here to say that we're here to help both guys to get better and improve and we'll make the decisions based on what's best for our offensive team to get better. I don't think it's just that position. I think there are other issues that create a problem for that position in terms of how we execute together as a group. I think it would be very unfair to put it on that position when things aren't being done well around them."

Translation - "i'm close to naming Sage starter, but we'll see how practice goes.

Pretty much. Then when he fails(not that I'm hoping he will, just a hunch) it'll leave the door wide open for my boy Lemon in week 11-12.

I think you are exactly right. This is just a way so he doesn't have to name Sage the starter just yet.

I can agree. The Oline still sucks and a sucky oline= sucky qb play.....

I too think that's a good interpretation. Hopefully Sage steps up this week in practice.

could Cleo be starting when we travel to Qualcomm? It could happen.....

Mueller took a gamble on him, but with his track record, I can't wait to see what he can do....

I agree, but there was plenty of times last night Gus had all the time in the world, he could not get it done...pathetic

I don't think Frerotte should be benched just yet, I say give him one more game to play well.

He's certainly left the door wide open, for Sage to walk in.

Can't comment on that cause I haven't seen the game yet, but it doesn't suprise me either.
There's a reason Gus was on so many teams and was never the starter....

I think he has thought about the question and that answer means that there is a real chance he will start Sage. If he had decided to start Gus he would have just said it so as to avoid the distraction of the qb debate. So yes what Void said.

Gus will be starting next week.

I dont think Saban takes a chance in our most winnable game of the season.
