Safety Ced Thompson, a Dolphins fifth-round pick from Minnesota, has signed with New England’s practice squad instead of signing a futures contract with the Dolphins.
Thompson, the third of the Dolphins’ four fifth-round picks in the 2015 draft, was the only draftee who didn’t see time from scrimmage.
Interim coach Dan Campbell said Thompson never mastered the skill of playing special teams, something that Campbell said held him back all season.

Louis Delmas was injured during preseason. Walt Aikens took over but lost the job early in the season. Michael Thomas took over and held the job for most of the season although Shamiel Gary saw time there late in the season.
