Damion McIntosh accepted a minimum base salary to stay with the Dolphins in 2005, but they shouldn't expect the same flexibility this offseason when weighing the left tackle's contract status.

Before the start of the free-agent signing period March 3, the Dolphins are expected to decide whether to retain McIntosh at a cap number of $4.48 million, try to restructure his contract or release him.

Do you think he will be with the Dolphins next year ?

If he is on the roster next year, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest it's a vote of no confidence in Carey or an indication that Carey may be shopped. It would be a hit but not a huge hit to move Carey this year or next if the price was right. My suspicion is that Carey doesn't really fit what Houck wants to do in Miami but that he may work out very well somewhere like Tampa Bay or Houston.

Carey isn't a LT, he's already proven that. I'd just keep McIntosh, $4.48M is not that high a cap # for a LT.

I think we'll keep him for another year and then see what Alabi has to offer.

SMAD Carey played better than McIntosh in TC as a left tackle, physically he has some similarities even to Willie Roaf so I wouldn't count out that possibility.

I say we keep him and Carey. If there is not much of a market out there for LT's then we may be able to bargin from a luxary not a need.

This is the most talented tackle draft in years, just tell that McIntosh and hopefully he realizes he's not worth that much this year.

I think you tell him that and give him three plans:

1) Hit the bricks
2) Stay and make not all that much for one more year before you get to test the market
3) Go in for the full restructure and have a shot to stick around for the upcoming Super Bowl win. :D

He'll probably agree to cut his salary by say 1.5m, but that's about it.

Him and Booker are actually decent trade-bait considering their small signing bonuses, but I think McIntosh will stay another year. I mean he's not necessarily detrimental to the offense. He pretty much played at the level Matt Light does ever year.

So your saying there is a rookie starting LT in the draft that Hauck will like that we should use our 1st draft pick on instead of a qb?

He should be able to stay if he wants to. I don't think he will break the bank, but if there is an upgrade you never know. I hope so.

No actually I believe Carey could start at LT and that another linemen in the 2 could start at RT, but consistency is never a bad thing especially on the OL. Yes Carey doesn't get great push for a RT but he should improve a bit soon and hopefully with tugboat Fonoti the Fins will have a better run blocking presence inside.

We probably should upgrade our guards. With Hadnout moving to center we need a good pulling guard to help make the running game go to the next level. Ronnie or Ricky can always help the tackles if needed.
