Dolphins Say Henne Could Start as a Rookie

well obviously he is their 2b choice
 
I also believe that Beck will start and if things are not going good then Henne might get his chance...what we do need is another WR plus a guard for things to go good on offence...on defence all I aks for is a corner and an OLB

i do agree henne should gete very chance to be the starting qb..butterfingers beck doesnt deserve crap from the new regime
 
i wish we could bring him along slowly, but if he turns out to be the best man for the job, why not?
 
Whoever wins the battle in training camp should get the start and if that turns out to be chad henne than I would be very happy with that
 
I think he'll sit back, learn from josh & johns mistakes and take over in 09 (assuming josh and john suck. if not he'll just sit back and learn from their good play(assuming either of them do good)
 
I think if there was a real conviction and dire need for a QB, Henne would have been drafted sooner. JMO.

Agree. A review of next years qb class does not reveal a franchise player. This is certainly a good security blanket in case Beck sucks.

I think this hits the nail on the head. The new regime has never seen Beck in camp, they just have college film (which was good) and last year's game film (which was not). They will get these guys in camp, see how they look, and go from there. Josh is really the veteran insurance, in case Beck and Henne are not ready.

I have to disagree. They looked down the draft board and felt strongly that he'd be there at 2b. Why reach for him when we can get a starting DE and the QB that they want with 2b.
 
I'm glad they didn't reach and take Henne too early, let him fall, and sanpped up a great DE in Merling. I was surprised by the Merling pick, but also pretty stoked.
 
It's great that the Phins believe in him so much and are willing to look at this competition with an open mind. I'm hoping Beck blows the team away and can start an all star career, but having another option should that not happen makes me feel a lot better at the end of day 1.
