This guy is a very solid inside backer and has been consistent, he would be a great 1 or 2 year fix at mike linebacker.

If we fail to get him....we drive the price up for the Jets....win win.

No argument from me. I'm tired of watching stumbling bodies and flailing arms at LB with the Fins.

I agree with this . . . we need to approach free agency with the idea of fixing "problem issues". David Harris would start at MLB from day 1. So yea, it's a good move.

The draft needs to be about bringing in talent, not about needs. It's great if we can fill a need with the best talent on the board . . . but I don't want to approach the draft with the mindset that we NEED a CB, or a MLB, or a G or a WR.

It wouldn't be just us interested, word is several teams will also be interested.

It has been rumored that we will be in the market for Harris' services.

South Beach calling: I'm hearing the Miami Dolphins, with former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum in a top executive role, could be one of the suitors for linebacker David Harris, a pending free agent. Let us not forget that Harris was one of Tannenbaum's best draft picks, a second-rounder in 2007. The Dolphins need a linebacker, so it makes sense. Harris also is expected to draw interest from the Buffalo Bills (see: Rex Ryan). The Jets want to keep Harris, and he'd like to finish his career in New York. The question is whether they can agree on a price. If he hits the open market March 10, there's a good chance they will lose him.

I have no issues with grabbing Harris .

There isn't any linebacker that I'm REALLY interested in this years draft .

Also I like a vet at MLB. In not a fan of having a rookie at mlb with Jenkins a second year started in there as well. In today's NFL we need LBs that have seen a look and are ready to go without overthinking
Before the snap

Harris would be a good signing because it would mean Misi moves back to his old position. one signing, two spots solved

Most people would take an Ellerbe/Harris swap . . . you cut Ellerbe and use the $5 million plus savings to get Harris under contract. Probably keep some money in your pocket in the process.

I would imagine Jets really want them and can certainly keep him with their cap numbers

I think its a no brainer...only matter of time before ellerbe and wheeler are shown the door...use that savings on getting harris...move misi back to sam
cut finnegan and use that $ to get a decent replacement CB
I think we cut starks prob keep ordrick and hopefully sign langford on a 2 year short deal

I've always liked Harris, but signing him would put Koa Misi back at SLB and I was hoping to see a competition there this year between Dion Jordan and Chris McCain.

I'd rather spend that money elsewhere, imo. Misi is a good linebacker, he just had an injury ravaged year. I'd rather invest in a low level backup or a mid round draft pick instead.

I would rather go with a solid, young, playmaking linebacker in Mason Foster from Tampa. Lock him up at least 3-4 years. Not that I would mind Harris...he's a stud linebacker and huge upgrade over Wheeler and company diving after ankles 5 yards downfield.

Foster isn't good.

I disagree...this team DESPARATELY needs a middle linebacker.....not a experiment from the outside linebacker position in Misi. He's another overrated pick by Ireland. When he makes plays, it's from the outside.
