Dolphins show off no-huddle offense

They did move the ball pretty well, Matt Moore was kind of the victim of a little bad luck. Chad Johnson drops an easy first down heading inside the 20 and then a tipped ball gets picked on another drive they were moving well on. For what its worth...

And Tannehill did lead them to the endzone twice.

i hardly see it as a victim of poor luck...good play by the dt getting in the air and throwing lane and a poor play by our guard blocking him...

All that is true, but that tipped ball could have taken a different trajectory and landed harmlessly on the turf. Instead, its a bit of a fluke INT and kills the drive. And yeah, add in another dropped TD by Wallace and well, they left a lot out there that game. Have to clean that up for sure.

I would've liked to see Gerard out there, just to see what all the hype surrounding his perfomance in camp was all about. I like Matt Moore, and think he is more than capable of leading us to a decent season, should they decide Tannehill isn't quite ready for prime time. However, I'm very intrigued by how comfortable and poised Tannehill looked last week. If he starts on Friday, and plays lights out, followed by an impressive perfomance next week, the coaching staff will have quite the conundrum on their hands. Houston is a tough first go for the rookie...

I think this is the part we are all worried about. However, I'm not sure what you can do to avoid the potential "down-side" of that type of offense? It seems to me that you have to practice it in a real games situation just like you practice it on the practice field. You hope with the repetition it translates to consistency in both settings.

So much will depend on our quarterbacks in the WCO/no huddle. They get a play from the OC, but they are expected to read the defensive positioning at the line and recognize intentions. Hopefully, the right play is already called. But if necessary, they must direct the rest of the offense to a new play that will take advantage of those perceived intentions. Watching Brady, Manning and Brees do it, you begin to think those teams are so lucky to have such talent at QB. We must hope that Sherman can get RT and/or Moore to that level of understanding and execution this year. Listening to Philbin, I wonder what he means by saying football is really a very simple game. ???? Makes me wonder, lol Maybe he's right, and all he must do is get the right system going with the right players executing it. However, I still don't think the QB in this kind of offense can be average in any way. He's got to be a special player, and I'm hoping we have that.

If he impresses tomorrow night, I have to think the coaches will go all in and begin prepping him for a week 1 start.

0 points in the first half I don't know if I would describe it as "showing off".

Showing, for sure, but showing off? No.

Yeah but we could have easily scored 20+ points if not for some drops and stupid stuff. I think we stopped ourselves more than Tampa's D. It was ok for the first game of the season. :brewskis:

People seriously have to take your preseason hats off. Once 53 guys are left, the consistency will thrive. Right now, its just three weeks since training camp started.

I said it before, say it again, we didnt finish, but all the QB's ran the offense fine while adjusting at LOS.

What scares me about this offense (which i do like) is the super fast 3 and outs. We r going to go 3 and out faster then anyone in the league and that D is going to be tired. Just hope they can handle it cuz they r the strength of the team.
3 and out pretty much always sucks anyway.

Anything is better than...

1st --- run up the middle for no gain
2nd --- 3 TEs and 1 WR ... pass incomplete
3rd and 10 --- DRAW up the middle for 3 or 4 yards
4th --- PUNT

The no huddle offense look really good. It's the no tackle defense that's got me worried.

The draw on 3rd and 10 was perfect! It set up the occasional Play-Action on 3rd and long quite nicely
