Dolphins showcase subtle smarts with McKinney signing

agreed. why did he keep using the word 'intimated'? weird word to use more than once in an article about football.

Jake Long is the left tackle, Smiley was a 2nd round pick and plays guard, not tackle.

But, I get your points and basically agree.

I kept getting distracted by that as well. It must have been the word of the day or something.

The editors screwed up Long and Smiley's positions. Good catch, though!

What's wrong with intimated?

Noting really, but a few other examples for the same meaning...suggested, implied, insiuated.

Nice read tho.

I always enjoy your imput as many others but to be truthful this was a pretty badly done article. Major mistake on Smiley's draft position. Thats only minor to me though as the inference that McKinney was a formely elite olineman. Mckinney at his best has been a solid offensive lineman throughout his career. I dont understand the genius of picking up a former starter as depth, i think every team in the league is doing it for the most part. Would we be subtle geniuses if we had resigned LJ Shelton for depth. To think we outsmarted the rest of the league by signing McKinney who was never a major commodity at any time in his career is quite a stretch. He started out in the NFL at guard so not sure why anybody would think he is unable to play guard.

I also did not agree that Carey as of yet has played at a pro bowl level at any position although he was a very good RT the year before he was moved to LT.I do think Carey has pro bowl potential at RT.

Couldn't disagree more with most of your opinions, especially the idea of resigning Shelton.

But good catch on Smiley's draft round.

Good article and basically agree..

On another note, I like your articles, you should push armondo for his job. Id rather read your articles than his crap *** input

Thanks man! I appreciate the props.

Armando has a penchant for being moronic. My favorite moronic assertion was when he insinuated that the Dolphins might cut Wes Welker during training camp back in 2006. Oops!

Carey has already played at a pro bowl level at RT 2 seasons ago. In fact, IMO he would have been in the pro bowl if he had been playing on a winning team.

Not tryin to be a wise-guy but, what exactly are "subtle smarts"? You are either smart or your not. Singing Mckiiney was a smart move, I agree with your column, but Subtle Smarts? Whats up with dat?
