Dolphins sign Brandon Albert

Jake Long wanted $10 million/season to stay in Miami.

Plus his original contract was 5-years, $57.5 million.

How's my math now?
Not good. What does his original contract that he signed 6 years ago have to do with anything? It doesn't. Albert was signed to replace Long who left for 4-years, $34 million. Now if you, or any of the 3 of you that gave you a thumbs up for having poor math and even worse logic want to try and tell me how 4 years, $34 million is more than 5 years, $46 million i'd love to see the math in that. And please, spare me his rookie contract and what he wanted stuff. Fact is he left Miami for 8.5 million per, hence why Miami had to sign Albert

Congratulations to @B_Albert76 on his new deal with the dolphins. Great player and even better person. That man deserves it.

I was just reading Schefters facebook, and im weirded out as to how many Chiefs fans are glad to see Albert gone. Chiefs fans don't seem to like him...that's kind of worrying don't u think?

Im ok with signing although Eugene Monroe was the better player and signed for much cheaper 5 yrs 37 million

I remember back in the day a lot of Dolphins fans were kind of happy to get a change of scenery when Richmond Webb left too.

well new gm now. Overall Long has been a better player than Albert but it seems Long is getting injury prone and less effective. He tore his acl and mcl so who knows how that affects him.
kind of sad to draft a guy number one overall and then not resign him. Its like wasting a pick

I don't disagree at all. I was just responding to the false comment that Albert got less than Long which simply is untrue. It's not even opinion, it's fact.
$8.5mil/year < $9.2mil/year.

Sooooooo .... Monroe who is younger and IMHO better stayed at Baltimore for 37.5M over 5 years. Veldheer who is younger and arguably as good went for 37.5M over 5 years. We paid the oldest and least durable of the top tier LT's 44M over 5 years.

I'm happy to have Albert. He is good at pass pro and a solid citizen. But, we got the clear worst run blocking LT of the 3 and the oldest of the 3 and the one with the most health issues. Age + lack of durability isn't ideal. Not quite sure why we paid a premium. Perhaps Monroe wanted more to move from Baltimore ... fair enough. But we just spent a lot more than Veldheer got. I'm not ready to sing Hickey's praises ... because it looks like he overpaid and still got the least durable of the 3. At least he got a good LT.

Fingers crossed he stays healthy.

The great Slippery Soap said it best in a part of what was the greatest post in the history of FH when he said.................................

"Great. We drafted another cornfed lineman. Super Bowl here we come!!!!! Get real."

Seems other teams and their gm's disagree with you.

maybe, we truly have no clue. We don't know all the offers he got or what he pursued we just have rumors. I mean u could say teams valued Saffold equal to or more than Monroe just based on his contract.
Monroe has always been a better LT than Albert even from college which is why Albert did not play LT in college. Doesn't really matter Albert is a good LT and hopefully line will get better. Long took less money last year to play elsewhere.
We thought ellerbee and Wheeler were better players and they were not. The consensus was that Monroe was the best lineman available, I have not talked with all 32 gms to see what they thought.

people see what they want to see. remember how all hailed Ireland last off season. The only false reports are the ones that don't paint the dolphins well.

I don't remember many. Comparing Webb and Albert though is apples and oranges. Webb was one of the top LT of his era, Albert is not in his league

Congrats @B_Albert76 I will miss you bro and blocking for me. I guess I will see u on the other side.

Jamaal Charles.

I'm happy with the Albert signing......good player and solidifies a key need for this team.

There are no guarantees in anything we do, but this one has the look of success. Now how about a guard or RT.....
